personchester?!
personchester? That doesn't sound like a real place...
@djsmiley2k I'm being overly PC. Manchester, of course :)
I've got PC on the brain. Bluefeet just complained in another room when referred to as "he" :)
Wheee. Net wirelesscard works
To bad there is still quite a difference between upload and download.
(it is a 10/10 fibre connection at the modem)
21:11
10/10 fibre? o.O
Yeah, we got 1Gbit fibre to the house, an ISP modem and we can could choose between 2/2, 10/10 or 80/80 connections
@Hennes How much was the 80/80?
The 2/2 got accidentally cancelled by the ISP. It was grandfathered, so they replaced it with the slowest one on offer. Which is 10/10
It was Eur 20 for 2/2, Eur 40 for 10/10 and Eur 80 for 80/80.
Right now is it 22 Euro for 10/10 and the nedxt up is 100/100 for 40-ish euro's
You get 1Gbit fibre, but they make you chose between 0.2, 1, or 8% of that speed?
They probably did not have the upload to offer more
21:16
@Hennes They could offer asymmetric like most ISP's do ...
I used to get 100/10 from Ziggo.
Apparently for new customers they offer 100Mbs for Eur 45 and 500Mbps for Eur 55
I used to get 3KB/sec from Ziggo (cable modem)
And 60% packetloss
That sounds awful :(
WOO I BROKE 1K
21:32
Congrats!
22:05
I have 100/10 but routinely get 120/12.

@allquixotic except SF has far more emphasis on best practices, where SU is often just "make it work"
@allquixotic oh dammit. still, protoc sucks... you'd think it'd be smart enough to compile all imports, but noooo...
Also, you can ping me while I'm asleep and I'll just see it in the morning :P

There appears to be either a dead person or some sort of chemical incident on our high street.
The bit in front of the hotel next to my hostel is closed off by police. Bunch of men in hazard suits and a white tarp in the middle of the road

@Dog Ooer!

It's causing a bit of a problem for buses
@MichaelFrank I don't get it
If GPO requires a password change 90 days after you change it, why would you be required to change it even if you've already changed it recently.

Oh lol
Maybe people have been asked to change their passwords by phising attempts?
RCN advertising gigabit Internet here in NYC:
> This Internet speed should come with a warning label!
lol
Problem is, 99% of the time you're going to be limited by the server.
I'm on 100/10 Charter Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) and for day-to-day web browsing, I'm limited by Firefox's poor performance.
23:12
For big downloads, a majority of servers are able to give me 50-100+ Mbps, but some are a lot slower than this.
23:33
@djsmiley2k yay
