@JourneymanGeek apparently the ones that flash people in the face are fake anyway but that's just what I read on the Internet so the accuracy is questionable
Firstly motorcyclists can't get caught from the front don't have plates at the front so have to be really taking the piss repeatedly for the cops to care, and secondly it was probably a fake camera
@Aibobot Yes, because half the problem is the systray icon has a red cross over it (no networks in range) nomatter what state it's actually in (even fully connected), and the wifi menu in W10 is claiming I'm connected to a network I'm not
In fact, no matter what, it seems to be connected to network A. If I tell it to connect to network B, it'll say connecting, then connected, but still actually be connected to network A
In fact even with the password for network A deleted and the network forgotten, and Windows claiming it's connected to network B, it's still connected to network A.
Must be the NSA is doing some dodgy shit to my connection.
Oh. Duh. LOL. headdesk
Network, B, my Android hotspot, is actually connected to network A, aka Android 6 has built-in transparent wifi repeater mode, if you turn on wireless hotspot while connected to wifi, the hotspot repeats the wifi network you're connected to instead of 4G
Typical NSA, masquerading as a built-in Android feature
@Bob Oh. I don't remember enabling it. But guess that's why it took me a while to figure out what it was doing
> According to various reports, Verizon has removed this WiFi sharing feature from its Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices. So if you own a Verizon powered Galaxy S7 or S7 edge device, you won’t be able to try out the newly offered WiFi sharing feature.
Typical
Looks suspiciously like 500+ bogus readings from when I was sampling data in 2013 with an older phone that evidently misreported LTE ECIs
Oh ffs they still haven't fixed that stupid "feature"
If you right click a link in Chrome and press 'T' it does "Open in new Tab"
If you right click a bookmark in Chrome and press 'T' it does "Delete"
First, a little background: Windows 3 Animated Background/Desktop/Wallpaper was a question I had myself tried hard to answer, back when it was posted. Recently however I came across Jeff Atwood's Let’s Play The Guessing Game SE blog post. Considering that (to me) the question above (although it h...
Okay, so back in the 90's or so, there was a local access TV channel that was driven by an Amiga. I know it was driven by an Amiga, because I saw error messages broadcast on a few occasions.
basically the channel was a parade of slides with various advertising and community info on them, with a ticker at the bottom of the screen showing time and weather and such.
every now and then, you could see the operators pull up a menu and edit the slides
i was once a big amiga geek, had the most powerfull $10K amiga with pereferials you could buy and assemble, then it was over :-( and it wouldnt even sell, so i gave it away. NASA had offered to buy a special add on perefrial from me one time for 2X what i paid for it , as referred by the company that sold it, but i turned them down because i needed it, Phhhht , ooh the regret.
! someone just dug it up. Titler is damn close, but it looks like the actual app isn't an app, it's a dedicated piece of amiga hardware called a "Magicbox AlphaGen"
why anyone would use such things now? you could use any PC software now and video switchers that will take a monitor feed. one monitor to control the software, and one to feed the crap nobody reads :-)
@JourneymanGeek VideoToaster is a great classic. It is the reason why there still are Amiga's running here and there. Simply because it just keeps working and PC replacements were darn expensive.
how do you tell someone that "The Check Is In The Mail" when it really is in the mail, but they have heard that so many times they think it is instead another deflection?
autopay and computer payments are the reason everything is going to hell costing so much, because it flows like a river, it is lesser seen, it is automatically raised to rediculous levels, without complaints
People are bleeding through thier pores, but the machines keep them from recognising it or acting on it.
I really get a lot of work done at midnight and beyond, no more people, no more calls, the dogs are passed out , peace at last. Which just brings up that problem of sleeping.
Well I would call clearing someones account out automatically , or with the push of 2 buttons, a bigger security risk than someone writing a bad check, or writing a check they have no rights to.
First thing I usually did was boot laptop, get coffee, log in, open default programs (mail, browser, lync, citrix sessions), .... That includes firefox and a restore previous tabs. Which means logging into chat (but not being active)
Uhm, how would you clean out someones account with two buttons.
seriously, remember when credit cards came out, the endless advertising on how Secure they would make you. now that is all the crooks want from you.
before that it was the checks that would make you secure, so now you believe that a robot making a transaction is the most secure, when in reality, we have lost security at each progression.
go to the bank see the dudes logging into your account At The Bank itself, but going through the web to do so? does that make any sence?
an array of employees (that we all trust right) have the keys to all your cash, thousands of them.
Where did the idea of the robot making transactions come from?
Over here my money upto 75k (haha i wish I had 75k) is protected legally
so yeah, i trust the banks with it, to a point.
I trust C&P far more than I trust a cheque.
And most changes here can't be made without you now entering your pin on your account, even when it's a bank employee making said change
so you have to be physically present, in branch, for them to do something
They can't just go 'I have the power muahahha!'
Also, why do you think that a cheque, which a bank employee could print themselves, sign themselves (they have your signature on the machine remember) and then cash themselves is better than the pin number that only exists inside your head?
my chip and pin card can be used by anyone at any time., been there done that, just handed them the card, they did not need to know the pin, because the debit card is also a credit card.
ahhh , well neither does anyone here, i discovered the hard way.
how many hundreds of databases are the numbers needed to transfer money from such cards available in? is my cash available in hundreds of databases across the globe?
if someone steals my cash, do i need to get a E-mail to know it is gone ?
if a russian mobster in russia wants to take money from your C&P (copy and paste :-) they dont even need to visit you.
heck they dont even need to leave thier home, were not only making it easy, but were making thieves lazy as all get up :-)
a check (before computer transaction) did not ever actually clear until the bank it was written from decides to fork over that cash, with computer hacking banks, the bank might not even know a transfer of funds was issued.
the credit card data is being stolen off the credit cards , via fake faces on the computers/atms. thousands of cameras (monitored by who knows who) are capturing and recording the Pin numbers. Enter Self-Checkout, where cameras monitor every person and every transaction, including every pin entry.
RFID has made the data for transactions "AirBorn" , the only thing close to that with cash, is a big wind blowing all your cash down the street :-)
too real. I live in california, and i can't throw empty latex paint cans in the garbage, (really) they have to go to a hazerdous waste facility. This week we were taking trash to the dump, and a big sign informs that if i put green waste in my housold dump run, I can be fined. I have been calling them dump nazis
Ugh. Back when I set up my first AD, I read that you should never use the root of your domain for the directory and that you should always use a subdomain. Otherwise, you'd run into "issues". So I've always done that. Until the last time, where I asked myself "Why?"
I have set up the domain contoso.com. The domain controllers in the domain are also the DNS servers within the network.
When users try to resolve contoso.com, they receive the A/AAAA records of the domain controllers. However, we want contoso.com to resolve to a different address (the web server...
I'm lead to believe that being in the State of California has been known to cause cancer. Therefore the State should carry a warning. — Burgi59 secs ago
to top it off, I filled my minivan with legal proper household trash, and they wanted $68, and then told me next time (because he calculated it wrongly) it will cost me $86.
less than 10 years ago, same dump run would be $15-24
oh lead, lets not even go there, they Banned me from being able to paint the outside of my stucco with lead and mercury based paints, just in case some child starts chewing on the outside of my house. we can't even buy oil based paints anymore for who knows what reason. On the other hand, just Try and find a set of dinner plates , that (made in china) dont have lead (Pb) in them.
The secret of rapid name switching... basically you can have different names on different SU sites and pick which one to associate your chat account with
