good lens hood is really important if your out in the feild shooting, and cannot control everything. the sun cutting through your lens stack makes a mess. ok some people like that mess, but I still fear it because lensed light striking your sencors could destroy some pixels , something that is less likely now.

to solve the never fit, and pain in the butt to put on, the movie industry will use a filter box contraption, and use drop in filters.

Nothing has more dust on it than my filters :-) I think i used the dual polariser once to look at the sun , with it blocking like a welding hood.

The linear polarisers did come in very handy when out in terrible conditions with glares comming off stuff. not just the glare, but the changing of the auto-iris. I would rotate it live, and probably cost the shot more playing with that problem, then ignoring it, and going manual iris , which itself is a true camera skill.

@Boris_yo well you do want to "fix" stuff when your out there, so you can get good pictures. cameras have all sorts of problems that the humans dont have , when viewing with the eyes.

If there isnt something you already want to fix , then your blowing money , when you should be instead running and learning the nuances of the camera itself, not more toys.

take a half gradient, a good example of something that has much value for only specific shots. When you have the sky in your shot, if you could cut it back 1/2. a landscape picture can have a white sky and good lighting on the ground, or you have the great sky and the ground is too dark.

A half gradient , used correctally (because it will limit you as much as it helps) will make that one shot great. ok now take that off because for everything else it has little value.

todays great digital cameras can actually compose such huge variations in the lighting for you, exposure tricks or HDR type dual exposures combined. So could be the camera will do many things for you , but you have to learn how and when to use it that way. The cameras features (which dont work any better than a filter does 1/2 the time) for improving the exposures.

some people fawning over how well a darkening filter worked for them, reviewing the wonders of thier rediculous 4X jacked up priced new toy, might have gotten about the same results if they had just controlled the exposure better.

I got 4 kitchen gadgets that I really like, and they are the machines that do a lot of the work well. the other stuff i mostly never bought, because i knew where it would be, and there is no room for it :-)

A camera in the hand, is worth 2 in the bag. look how much stuff people are "creating" with little stuff like go-pro tiny weasil cameras (that style). Why are there 3-5 times as many pictures taken as before? just because it is with them now, and they indeed are getting better at taking, because they use it more.

I'm not sure if I'd ever need that many displays for my use.

Up to 6, sure, but certainly not 24.

In fact, I doubt I'd ever need more than 4.

I understand that there's a special application involved here, and I feel it's a Windows or NVIDIA graphics driver problem.
