Ah. No need to reinstall. Just re-entering my Windows 8 key worked fine. Thankfully. I'll need to do a clean install eventually though. I don't remember what, but I remember there were some issues with my PC related to having upgraded Windows before it died.

If you like having full control and are much more familiar with Linux, you might find BSD a bit annoying, if only cause it's subtly different and some commands will do things you don't expect.

If you're happy living in the friendly-UI world, then it should be easier.

ZFS is definitely more mature and better documented when running on top of BSD.

Also consider setting aside an SSD partition for a L2ARC if you want.

One of the things about ZFS is it loves RAM.

L2ARC is a read cache and ZIL is a write cache.

The bigger question is whether your SSD can survive write-heavy loads :P

If it's TLC, don't even bother. MLC, maybe (depends on your workload, and the specific drive model). SLC, great (but expensive).

@MattJensJensen You can always start simple with a small OS partition and leave the rest unallocated so you can set it as cache later if you want.

or use the SSD for cache but then you run into the possible wear problems

I'd recommend you back up the OS in a ZFS dataset/snapshot so if the SSD does die you can replace it pretty easily :P

@djsmiley2k Yes, it goes up to 40 when the queue get to a certain size. It seems to be when it hits somewhere around 1550 total posts awaiting review.

You get 20 and then some time later (not sure how long) if you go back to the queue you get another 20.

@djsmiley2k It lied. That 12 hours is the time left till the count resets (which is midnight UTC). It also says that after the first 20 and then gives you another 20 some time later before the time is up.
