@oldmud0 The best way to figure out the capacity of a VHS tape is to pull it out and measure it (or look on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VHS#Tape_lengths)

Hmm, my 36Wh portable battery pack eats 44Wh to charge, and can send 28.5Wh to my phone at 9v.

So about 25% efficiency loss either way it seems

My phone on the other hand takes 14.4Wh to charge its 11.6Wh battery, also about 25% loss.

So all in all, it takes about 50Wh from the wall to give my phone 23Wh of charge through a battery pack.

one of the things i would like to discover, is if a Nvidia 1080 , which they say does normal HD as a side task :-) if it would take the least power of all when clocked down a bit, and locked to 60FPS (v-sync) and not all on ultra etc. But much of the latest testing of the video cards, they even quit telling what all settings they use. Really is a 4K monitor going to need 16X AA :-)

even in my HD monitors i tend to use the lower ammount of AA where there is no blurring occuring. leaving off motion blur and other things that have caveats

4 billion transisters working at a low voltage , could be better than 2 billion being pushed .

plus i have to take out and sell my adaptec awesome raid card and the 4x3T disks. because it is another power sucker, and heat outputter

I had 8 hard disks, 1 SSD and 1 Optical, with that ammount of disks the 10Watts each probably is a significant ammount of power.

Looking at the helium drive though, it would take "less" power than a normal drive, but . . . because it is a 7200 it takes less power than a 7200, but 54-5900 drives take less than that .

so less is more in that, and they dont have helium green drives yet :-)

dont even know if that speed would keep the head floating in the lower density air/gas.

then tear apart the other (intel) based raid, will give the advantage of each seperated drive being able to sleep , wheras now the entire set has to wake and sleep as one. Which reguardless of what people say, works just fine (green drives) with the right raid stuff.

If these people would even figure out if these GPUs really are less power or not, and making the same picture or not. Some people show the AMD 480 peaking at 300W, uhh thats not 150, i already got one of those. And the nvidia the same, even averaged peaks way over the High Faluting Over Hyped claimes of Way less power use.

Wouldnt bother me if the Advertising the Huge presentations mettings info did not qualify for SEC and FTC fraud.

1/2 sized transisters tended to be more like 1.2X less unless they are comapring with full sized transisters now :-)

nvidia still has 4 major quirks/bugs besides. 5 If i count the one that i thought was important, the CoilWhine, which could be addressed by using good coils, in any build. I have not yet found a build of that quality.
