ok. i have adapted to dvi for the HD cameras, and it worked great even on the 16x10 monitor. all the device would need to do is properly output a full HD signal, or allow for manuel res settings.
then the sound (which doesnt exist on the computer monitors) would have to still exist out a headphone adapter or something.
These boxes seem to have the Connect to the web 171 ways covered :-P , only thing I dont need, and I am betting that is paying for some of it. Subscription stuff.
long ago i tried the WD-Live box, same thing, it had endless web capacity, but fails pretty much at local play.
3rd option, some at least 10" IPS screen thing that is standalone. thousands of those too, most of them either royally crappy, or very high priced, and still with many complaints.
and you know what happens if it is just a weak version of a desktop computer, that is slow and buggy. People just hop on the power sucking desktop proper , and be done with it. So the "other" media device would have to be for minimal purpose, play some movies either/or be really mobile.

hmm, i only know 2 players, the MX player for android, and the MPC player in windows, both will scale some of my crapiest (very compressed) to acceptable playback.
only half the stuff is compressed to death, and plays wunderfull on the phone.
the solution is to try and make your device capable of 30 meters of submarine, then sell it as a little bit water resistant. which for the most part they do, when they warn people that it isnt for snorkling or underwater pictures or pool parties :-)
hmm, I wonder how I'd tune an error correcting algorithm for NTSC
if I just dumped 525 lines of pixels on the screen without even correcting the colors or considering the slight blur between the colors, it wouldn't be very easy to decode would it
any video program that has filters, like i use virtual dub, and layers of filtering. or machines for doing that live in analog before it gets to the recording device.
would help to know first WT your actually doing though.
if your editing all the editors have the few needed simple filters for color and lighting correction, and 150 other things that nobody really needs too :-)

dude get the dell even if it is $200 more. Ips usually doesnt have a high change rate, but it is interesting that mine had less lag going from GPU to screen.
and dell also sells ones with lesser backlighting, i mean it is not like that is a guarentee there, it's thier special models that have all the good stuff.
and the special models always break my bank, but prove to be worthy.

Your thoughts on AR-MMOGs?
The very fact that they got a license to make a game in such a high-profile franchise as Pokémon is no small feat.
Also, let's not forget that Niantic began as an internal startup at Google. It was spun off into an independent company as part of the Alphabet restructuring.

@DavidPostill could be that using proper shutdown routines would fix that problem of starting in safe mode . "when i turn it off" vs "when i shut it down"
why tin foil? hasnt the NSA proved and basically said, and created multiple viruses that did exactally that? invaded peoples privacy illegally, and could basically do anything they want. With the known facts about these things, the only sane perception is by those with the tin foil hats.
Look at the other millions of dollers going to ISPs to breech peoples privacy at a whim, the fact that they insist that all encryption be available to be backdoored by them, and the odd money they have spent numerous times on microsoft payments.
I hear the NSA had phones include special small batteries so that some parts can stay powered on even if you take out the main battery, though the people saying that might be tinfoilers
even my cameras all have small unseen li-ion rechargable coin cells to keep the clock runnning, a minor extrapolation of that could keep a gps blipping away for some time
