Heh... we have enough weird noises.
how old is she?
9 months.
still time to start the OOT OOT or talking like the adults in charlie brown
Nah, we talk to her normally.
if i had a child i'd troll it so much
did you hear about that japanese couple last week?
22:04
@Burgi Yea... that's not cool at all.
Monitors are color-calibrated. Pictures in color-managed programs like the GIMP finally look true to life, yay!
my friends tried to force me to hold their baby
no way! it doesn't have a warrenty
The Windows 10 Photos app is not color-managed, so things look really ugly.
22:20
@Burgi My wife would always make me hold our friends babies. Never wanted to. Now that I have my own, babies are easy!
On a calibrated and color-managed display, the red leaves should be a deep orange-red, not a bright red.
@MichaelFrank maybe when it is less fragile looking
I've enabled color management in Firefox, too.
do you do a lot of graphics work?
"no i spend most of my time in the terminal"
@Burgi Some photography (bear in mind that I am a sports photographer for my college)
How do the red-orange leaves in the above image look on your display? (everyone may respond)
22:26
looks "fine"
Red leaves are very red, but I use f.lux, and that kind of hoses any chance of color accuracy
I'll sacrifice artistic beauty for my eyes not being burned out
the sky is pale blue and the leaves are pale orange
@bwDraco Looks fine. With or without f.lux.
These are the sorts of colors that are very hard to get right without color management.
None of the colors should look excessively saturated.
only 5 more episodes and i can forget about lone gunmen
its like they thought "hey these guys work really good in x-files, maybe we can get a series out of this" then got school children to write the plot
i think that if they had an arc over the season it might have worked better
but they went with a series of standalone episodes
22:33
Color management has been enabled in RawTherapee and GIMP on this machine. Pictures look fantastic.
@Burgi What's the color of the leaf on the top left as seen on your display?
normal red
Is there a hint of orange?
This is why color management matters.
towards the smaller lobe, yes.
orangey pink
Your display seems to be displaying these colors with less than correct saturation.
i should have answered "purple" to mess with you... ;)
probably
22:38
Red saturation is very hard to get right.
i bought this screen off the noticeboard at work for £20
The very upper left actually does look a tiny tiny bit purple to me
the second screen i rescued when a girl i was dating was clearing her garage
Why are stars getting cleared? (@DavidPostill)
o.O
22:42
I'm not seeing any star clearage
@bwDraco they shuffle about occasionally as they age away
screen 1 is a dell but is being listed as "generic screen"
@bwDraco No idea. I haven't cleared any.
Messages with multiple stars stick around longer than those with only one, so the newly starred message probably shook stuff up a little
screen 2 is a dell 2407WFP-HC
i suspect screen 1 is the older model of screen 2
You can always click "show all 12204" :)
22:45
hang on... i can read the back...
dell 2405fpw
@bwDraco does that help?
Great, thanks.
bed time!
nn
I had a 2405fpw before. long time ago
23:03
Failing panels can display clearly wrong colors in the corners. I've seen it firsthand.
23:18
if they're CCFL they can also gradually yellow
23:38
Monitor calibration reports available upon request.
23:55
I have just been restarted! This happens daily automatically, or when my owner restarts me. Ready for commands.
