Discounting Reddit, have you seen the forums on deviantArt? Sadly, they're the best boards I can remember. dA Forum is not as clunky as average tech forums. The Chan sites are kind of okay but then again, nothing beats that thing I saw up on Github. Gosh darn it , I wish I could remember that name.

I'm just saying Discourse forums can generate good convo if forum projects use it. I'm not implying anything about SE.

Although, I did for a moment think it would be nice if they expanded their universe a bit. But it's fine as it is. All the sites are nice. They need more of a userbase though. Everyone has a knack to answer on this site, I'm afraid you guys and overflow have kind of left the noobs too afraid to participate. There are better places for them, though.

Example: If you go to gardening SE they may downvote you if you dont know what a rake is :-) but if it was like SU they would downvote you because you dont know that 20-30-10 fertaliser , isnt good for avocados :-)

no not in all cases. but when reading through a question, the techs read some wild interpretation by unknowing persons, and downvote. It isnt thier responcibility to be the "teacher" , but given that everyone else was not DV (pushed off the site) there are people who would have taken on that task.

in windows we can wipe a drive without killing anything. there are wipe methods that only wipe things that are already deleted. so one can delete files off the drive then use wipe methods that would not make accidents . could be linux has a program that would act that way, and be "better" ? Course secure erase is always fun.

I always have multiple drives that are zactaly the same, takes me many pauses to determine which is which prior to . . . needing the backup.
