@tereško "Workbench" has a visual graphic UI ? like phpmyadmin
@JourneymanGeek disagree, I like it :-)
@tereško ah !
very good
also workbench:
@Sajad: Its insecure, and its a fairly well loved exploit.
@tereško: there's one more right? Designer?
or does workbench forward engineer?
I don't remember .. have been usong Postgre lately
14:02
@tereško oh, it is very complicated, I want to use phpmyadmin :P
@JourneymanGeek me ?
@Sajad doo what ever suggestion is give by experience one
I restarted spoitfy cause of him
14:04
btw, @AnmolRaghuvanshi , were you doing the installation too ?
yup @tereško but my net sucks
you too have a 2GB bandwidth cap?
overall progress 17%'
yup
I mean, Sajad has a 2GB/mo limit for download
14:06
@tereško I think this limit is just for Iran
I'm pretty sure I use more than that in a week
@JourneymanGeek good for you ...
@Sajad: None of the local ISPs have a usage cap
@Sajad you mean that you can use 2GB of "foreign internet" ?
Bob
Bob
@marcusdoesstuff ...don't do that
you don't need an explicit i in Python.
14:08
lately but not very late i trying to be nerd will increase the bandwidth]\
Bob
Bob
Look up loops in Python, not any other programming language.
@tereško no !
Bob
Bob
In mot cases, when you're iterating over a list you shouldn't be using enumerate
see my example above
and look at Python loops.
@bob i have been looking up loops for python.
Bob
Bob
Just use the data value directly and every iteration it'll advance to the next element
14:09
python loops are aweosme
No fancy indexing
Bob
Bob
@HackToHell Not really. They're bog standard in most higher-level languages (C#, Java, Perl, etc.)
@bob sorry bob, don't want to look like i'm ignoring your advice because i have been looking up all sorts of tutorials. >_<
Bob
Bob
@marcusdoesstuff just read the docs, they're quite clear here: docs.python.org/2/tutorial/controlflow.html
@tereško In my opinion, get a backup from today (of this chat room), and publish it as a best tutorial for implementing a VirtualBox !!
well, @AnmolRaghuvanshi, ping me when you get to the next step .. keep in mind, there will be a lot of downloading from internet
Bob
Bob
14:10
A lot of tutes are... iffy.
@Sajad there are tutorials :)
you are just lazy .. and dont have access to youtube
Bob
Bob
@marcusdoesstuff A great starting point: docs.python.org/2/tutorial/introduction.html
If you can go through that one (you can skim past the unicode stuff) and the first couple sections of docs.python.org/2/tutorial/controlflow.html
that should cover most of it
ok @tereško you also need some rest ;p
@tereško I'm not lazy, I don't know english :-) !! and as you said I don't have access to youtube
I'm making food currently
14:13
@tereško what is the name of your food ?
I wiil search it and see it ...
"something in a clay pot"
I tend to improvise
it will look like this: i.sstatic.net/FYuxn.jpg
Same thing one needs to do with computers
just checked my phone: I used 52GB last month
Bob
Bob
@tereško now I'm hungry
and it's 12:15 am
@Bob just the right time for beer
14:16
@tereško :-) Does not look delicious !
it's look delecious ... mee to feeeling hungry
@tereško In my religion drunking is a guilt ...
there are religions which think that cows are sacred
your point?
excessive drinking is harmful, but moderate beer/wine use is actually healthy
@tereško My point is I also like to try eating liquor, but I can not :(
14:18
lol
I'm a vegitarian teetotaller.
And I could totally murder an orange.
islam needs reformation (just my opinion)
@tereško Islam says: I'm perfect !
@tereško indeed what is your religion ?
@Sajad: No one is perfect
We all try, cause if we were perfect, we'd not call ourselves as such ;)
@JourneymanGeek Islam is not a "one", it is a "Instruction"
"I'm perfect"
14:20
@tereško image not found
There is no "perfect", except perhaps $deity. Depending on what you believe in.
@JourneymanGeek I believe to the God !
(Hindu, religiously, though there's very slight elements of other religons in my personal belief system.)
I am "agnostic atheist" from "christian culture"
14:22
@tereško: I absorbed a few ideas from the methodist school I went to
like the concept of "personal faith"
@tereško what is your opinion (in the view of your religion) about sex ? (porn videos)
or the idea of a personal relationship with $deity
@Sajad church hates porn
@tereško ah ! like Islam
> $deity
ROTFL
14:24
they are all the same, the names of gods just change
@tereško yeah
I have a big question that no one can not answer me ever, there is any God or not ?
I really to know the truth
@DragonLord: The concepts transend an individual religion.
but I should wait to die !
@Sajad: wrong room for that.
;p
@JourneymanGeek yes ! I will stop !
14:25
We can hardly agree on what hardware is better half the time ;p
@DragonLord: You can substitute personal faith as a belief in anything
topic suddenly changed from Cs to relegion ;p
science for example, or a plate of pasta.
But I like the idea of each person finding his own moral and spirtual anchor on his own terms
@AnmolRaghuvanshi: and philosphy tho, sometimes the difference is slight ;p
@Sajad here is my opinion: be a good person. If there is a god and he approves, you will be alright, if there isn't a god .. well you had a good life. But if there is a god who punishes you for not worshipping (even if you were a good person), then it's not any god I would care about.
</religion>
@tereško: and we we do the right things, and help people, we make now better ;p
perfect place for relegion relegion tag should be included in html
14:28
lol
We have religion sites tho
@JourneymanGeek you are right
take your pick ;p
I just don't really bother to hang out there ;p
@tereško your Idea is thinkable
(rofl. Tho, I guess I have spam flags on a few of em, and as such accounts)
.. what happens if you worshipped the wrong god (there are 4000+ different ones)
14:30
@tereško tweet it :D
I tweet only programming-related stuff
all translates to god in english
ok
I don't touch subjects like "social justice" or "religion" in mediums which store my GPS coordinates
14:32
@tereško: what if there's two right gods? ;p
@tereško he will punish me, because he gave me decision-making power, and he want of me to fide him
in hindu some gods not actually gods below them drinks wine ;p
@AnmolRaghuvanshi :-)
Well, the devas are closer to jumped up nature spirits, or our equivilent of the roman or greek pathenon.
ANd well, pretty fallible
14:33
culturally I'd half suspect that they were the last reminant of an older religion
btw, some scholars think that originally Yahweh (christian/hebrew god) had a wife: Asherah
@tereško that's funny !
@tereško your opinion is fine ! but what is your definition of "good person" ? this is what is important !
@AnmolRaghuvanshi O.o?
hmm
@Sajad good person is one whose actions minimize suffering
@allquixotic ;p
14:41
@tereško I see it as a min/max problem (in the math sense). The other side of the coin is maximizing happiness.
@AnmolRaghuvanshi Half-thought to flag it, then went "meh", right-clicked and selected "Remove Element"
client-side solutions ftw
@allquixotic how can i remove it
@AnmolRaghuvanshi Now? It's been more than 2 minutes, so you'd have to get a mod to do it. That's one of the big limitations of the chat system: after 2 minutes you can't edit or delete your old messages. It's probably fine, though. Just not safe (enough) for my work. :P
@JourneymanGeek you are mod ....
Yeah.. gone
Consider
People use this chat at work
14:45
thanku for that.. will never post like that
I often don't complain about things posted in here that are NSFW, because I can just remove element; the Chrome extension I use is nice like that
and I always tunnel anyway so my work isn't seeing me download the image specifically
;p
My workplace dosen't really care. Our AUP is essentially "just don't get us into trouble"
But there was a lot of issues over that on the comms room at one point
the comms room was/is terrible
that place is too over-the-top for me to view even at home for long periods of time
was seems accurate
most of the folk there moved to slack
lol
yeah...
14:48
at times, yes
I guess the bridge isn't any better
@tereško ok well, I got to go, really thanks for today, I will continue tomorrow (If God willing)
bye for now
(heh, I need to get maiou up again for kicks. And other stuff)
14:48
bye @Sajad
but next weekend I'm probably spring cleaning the old desktop
@AnmolRaghuvanshi bye
@JourneymanGeek "lol" is for what ?
About the bridge
You wouldnt understand
@Sajad "bridge" is a chat room
@tereško aha !!
ok
14:49
@allquixotic usually when I'm there, its cause someone flagged
!! s/chat/bad chat/
(and this is before I got my mod had ;p)
@allquixotic @Sajad "bridge" is a bad chat room (source)
@tereško should also take rest :D we can continue other day
oh, Cavil, how I missed thee
It's that, or I will be going back to digging through PF documentation again
@tereško oh, just one thing
I also need to download mysql and php, right ?
I want to go to university tomorrow at 7:00 am
yes, you will be downloading it when the OS is installed, using the built in application management
14:52
can you give me that links?
@JourneymanGeek Hmm.... I need to either create or acquire software for Android that automatically stashes files of certain extensions on a reliable backup (a server or a private cloud or similar) after they've been on the phone for a certain period of time, and then delete them from the phone
@tereško aha, so there is not any link direcly ?
@Sajad digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/… .. though, you progrably should install nginx instead of apache
if I'm gonna get the Note 5 (and I probably am), to manage that tiny 64 GB of NAND, I want it to upload my pics then delete them, if they sit on the phone longer than a month (or some arbitrarily chosen time period)
14:54
ditto with screen caps and video
@allquixotic: rofl
my current phone is 4gb
@tereško should i have a vps to continue in discussion
@JourneymanGeek O_O
also, android would likely autobackup those
@allquixotic: er... 8
no sd card either
@tereško yes, I want nginx
anyway ok tnx
14:54
I'm probably upgrading at the end of the year tho
I will do it tomorrow !
waiting for the one plus two to become available here
@AnmolRaghuvanshi you can learn without a VPS , it's just that digital ocean ahas pretty good tutorials
kk and what will be further steps
as said before, @AnmolRaghuvanshi , a virtual machine in VBox is basically a VPS
only real difference is that on paid VPS they do the installation of OS for you
on VBox you install the OS yourself
14:57
yup
@JourneymanGeek my mom has a Droid Maxx, 720p, 2 GB RAM, Snapdragon S4 Pro... I showed her how I can take notes with the S Pen on my Note 4 and she was like "I'll take that if you're upgrading"
I typically test out things in a VM before I run it on a ... well, I don't have a cps any more ;p
@allquixotic: lol. I might give my dad my moto G. His current phone runs gingerbread
i have nokia XL looks like hybrid of windows and android ;p
(tho, lack of SD card ... he watches movies on it while waiting)
14:59
between my SD and my internal, I have 66.06 GB used on my phone right now
only 21 GB of that is apps
I'm pretty light, phonewise
my big hitters are Spotify, Audible, and the camera
11.12 GB of Spotify data
ahh
google play music is my heavy hitter
camera... well I back up often
15:01
3.76 GB of Audible data
lol
that's prolly more than my whole phone
I donno yet
still looking at options ;p
I always have to decide between Yin/Yang, Suzaku team or Seiryu team, heart or mind, when getting in the car in the morning and evening - do I want to listen to music (heart), or listen to part of a lecture in the Great Courses series (mind)?
lol
(I need to reorganise my music setup to use my desktop ._.)
laptop's not in a good place for it at day time.
I tend to 'free assoicate' music tho
I tend to get addicted to an album for a while
yeah, that too
kinda in a music lull tho
nothing new, and not had that many proper listening sessions ;p
15:06
@allquixotic 64GB .. mostly music, movies and tv series
oh .. and some audiobooks
I've had music lulls, but I usually listen a lot when especially stressed or especially happy
or if people are especially annoying in the office, then I put my headphones on and listen to music just to cancel out their chatter
wat. is this a phonetic translation or are there actual translations for the Latin words in "Lorem ipsum" in Tamil? O_O translate.com/tamil/lorem-ipsum-dolor-sit-amet/43878539
0_0
It phonetically reads "Room Service Carrot"
it makes no sense in tamil
ROFL
that's great that Google Translate tried to translate it though
horribly
hm
seems bogus
that almost makes sense
innovative sitting administration? lol
15:44
@Pandya Glad you were able to get it working! Good luck with the slimmed down browsing experience!

1 hour later…
16:47
Less than 50 rep to 20k.
A potential client told me today that they can't reach our website. Further troubleshooting revealed, that their IE is set to not use TLS at all. What possible reasons exists for that?
Like, apparently that's being rolled out through group policy
NSA has been tampering with stuff :D
Less than 20 to go. Does anyone want to upvote a few posts to get me there? :-)
All that fuss over imaginary internet points ;p
Thanks :)
@HackToHell lol
16:59
have some upvotes anyways ;)
Congrats on the 20k :D

Hurry up and get there :P
Well, it took me this long.

17:32
@DragonLord Congrats!

1 hour later…
18:46
@tereško are you there ?
good
I will download that things
I have 800 MB traffic, I will spend it ...
hmm ... 800MB till when?
3 next day
18:49
one question: If I download MySQL and PHP for this FreeBSD, I can use them (mysql and php) for liunx (If I install a linux on my vbox) ?
I need to download them again (for linux) ?
unfortunately, the applications are not directly compatible
shit !
overall progress: 5%
:(
same way as you cannot windows exe file anywhere but on windows
18:52
ok
but, you could download a DVD for linux
that *.iso file might contain most of the popular packages
@tereško what is that DVD containing ?
there is *.iso for linux ?
http://linux.yazd.ac.ir/CentOS/6/isos/i386/
http://mirror.yazd.ac.ir/ubuntu/15.04/
very good
I will download one of them later
but download them in university
the sizes are over 1GB
18:56
oh ...
ok
that 50MB iso you downloaded was the "netinstall" version
over 1GB for what ? it is containing mysql and php ?
@tereško ok
@Sajad yes, also firefox anf filezilla and several meda player and openoffice
ow, then it is completely !
one thing else: If my website be fine in FreeBSD, I can be sure it will be fine in my real VPS (Likely, ubuntu)?
no, only the major applications
@Sajad yes, and it will also teach you how to set up the webserver
18:58
@tereško No, But I'm sure I will use linux
But I ask again, If my website be fine (specially its routing) on FreeBSD, It will be fine on real VPS (my real vps has not unix, it is linux)
you already bought your VPS?
ok
I don't know why I edited my previous comment instead of answer your question in the new comment :)
ping me when your download is complete
@tereško ok

Arrr!
34 %
hmm ... your net is kinda slow
@Mokubai Arrr, Matey!
but I have a whole season of Stargate SG1 to watch
@ThatBrazilianGuy How goes things?
19:31
@Mokubai Cursing at my very rusty writing skills.
There's a somewhat big conference next Saturday I'm part of the organizing team and I'm writing part of the content for the site
Why's that? Writing anything interesting?
Ooooh
What's the conference?
WordCamp Rio de Janeiro
But it's been a couple years since I wrote anything
(Either posts for tech blogs or short fiction tales)
So I've been staring at empty screens and swearing quietly for the last few days
And writing 300 words per day ;_________;
@ThatBrazilianGuy o.O
There's been some headaches, insomnia and a marriage of a friend inbetween, so there's that :P
But... Time to go back to writing!
Have fun!
50 %
@ThatBrazilianGuy Just do what I do and fire up a game until inspiration hits. I've been going for years....
@tereško watch it and enjoy it ... :-)
btw, did a quick check
the package management software will tell you exactly how much it will be downloading for each piece of software that you install
installing pure php56 was 4MB download (that is with any extensions)
installing the common extensions was 2MB more
.. but thing's like mysql will be eating a lot more of your bandwidth
19:50
I just got back motherboard after returning it DOA; got new mobo and CPU as they were faulty, and the RAM back. Put the new stuff together, and it still doesn't boot. Um. Could the PSU be out of tolerance and have caused it? I'm somewhat at a loss here.
@gsnedders can you assemble you setup on pcpartspicker ?
so that we can see EXACTLY what gear you are dealing with.
@tereško yeah it tells. it downloaded baase.txz so far and now it is downloading kernel.txz
overall progress: 55 %
@Sajad can you see how much bandwidth it has eaten?
eaten means Spent ?
@tereško uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/hCBfBm --- it's just on the bench at the moment, and I'm just trying to get it to POST, so most of the rest doesn't apply
19:55
those are archive files, but still, we are probably in range of 200MB for the entire thing
@Sajad yes
@tereško so far, 80 mb
not so bad .. then it's just your internet :P
@gsnedders do you have any other pars coming in? Any beep codes? Is CPU fan spinning?
@tereško :-)
@Bob @JourneymanGeek holy awesome, batman... THIS is the best thing since sliced ZFS
@tereško no beep codes, neither CPU nor PSU fans spin up (the PSU shouldn't with the wattage involved, AFAIK)
19:57
it's so fast for a web-based thingy
any system with port 443 open and a modern web browser is now potentially a way to get out of jail free without having to use a heavy VPN or potentially risky third-party program (which can be detected easily) like stunnel
@allquixotic looks interesting, but it's not exactly what I want
