Benje?
*benji
Benji is the name of a fictional dog who has been the focus of several movies from 1974 through the 2000s. It is also the title of the first film in the Benji series. The eponymous canine character is a small, lovable mixed-breed dog with an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time, usually to help someone overcome a problem. Joe Camp is the creator and director of the Benji films. The first dog to play Benji was a shelter dog named Higgins, trained by Frank Inn. Later, Higgins' offspring Benjean took the name for a few films. == Filmography == === Films and televisi...
Just signed up for PCPartPicker
I didn't realise Benji's actor was a mystery mutt ;p

Sound got stuck in my game, the Sprint Breathing , is repeating , so now my charachter sounds like a panting Dog.
Just change the hand to a paw and it is all set.
My real dog is going WTF

I thought ECC was standard on AMD CPU's.
But yeah. Jane standard users do not need more cores.
Nut udimm and rdim seem weird.
@Boris_yo Ah ok. Thanks! Will probably give it to a friend though since I don't have a use for it. :)

@allquixotic So, apparently Sharp is coming out with 4k 5.5" LCD panels.
Say bye to battery life!
@Bob Samsung and LG will be first in line to get their hands on them. :/
BECAUSE PIXELS!

Bob
@allquixotic Samsung is AMOLED

@Bob Is there any real reason to have a 4k screen on a mobile phone?

@DragonLord It's almost always better for the marketing dept, though.
Same reason applies to a lot of things :P
I keep seeing mention of it in regard to the next generation of flagship phones but I honestly can't see a point going past FullHD or 2560*1600 (whatever that one is called)
Bob
Bob
It's also apparently useful for VR, if you're attaching the phone right in front of your eyes. But that's a rather rare usage, and not worth sacrificing battery life for everyone else.
@Mokubai ...I don't see a point going past 1920x1080.
In fact, I'm pretty happy with 1240x720 on a phone.
@Bob Heck, even Apple tops out at 1920x1080 on the iPhone 6 Plus phablet.

hmm
@allquixotic ever had Spotify just come up with a blank screen?
17:09
iPads are 2048x1536.
I can see justification for 2560x1440 QHD on a 6-inch device, but that's about it.
Text and vector graphics will look sharper on a QHD display than an FHD display of the same size, but any more is not worth it.
@Bob yep.

my phone just crashed (again)
it booted into safe mode

Still dreaming about building a PC...
Here's what that dream Lucifer build would look like using current parts:
2-way SLI GeForce GTX Titan Z; more only if the application needs it.
Hang on, PCPartPicker seems to be glitching on me
Bob
Bob
I wish Jimmy still came around here :P
Okay, PCPartPicker is handling SLI video cards on a parametric filter incorrectly
Okay.

@Boris_yo Going through all that is a hassle. I usually prefer to just give things away. :P

...and I meant Titan X.
Not sure how I got that confused with the older, more expensive Titan Z.

Q: Does RAM cooling make a difference to performance?

EveryoneJust what the title states. I'm looking to add a heat-spreader to my DDR3-1333 CL9 chips, and wondering whether it might make a difference ... and if so, how much

Bounty started. The question is 3-1/2 years old and sorely needs an update.
23:05
if your getting x99 chipset will you be doing ECC ?
I hate spreaders with a passion, but for more than single reasons. I hate Pads for thermal transfer, they have some insulative effect , while attempting a heat transfer.
Todays Dimm slots are tight together, so the design of the spreaders actually Blocks normal air flow that would go past the ram chips
Seeing these things apart , ram chips are not like a CPU with a tiny little chip, that even the first (block) spreader on the chip, spreads the heat across a larger surface area. Rams chips instead take much of the area of the PCB up, they have already a large surface area , not that much bigger than poor thermal conducting Covers :-(
The "jaws" or top art , do assist in spreading the heat (finnaly) over a larger surface area. Then they tick me off by being way to high, for fans and large cpu coolers.
@Psycogeek No ECC support on this processor.
X99 can theoretically do ECC, but that requires a Xeon.
Then finalise it by . . . if your going to do all that, then put a fan above it Ram fans are tiny poop fans that do not last time, and squeal like pigs.
But generally i hate the whole marketing , slap some junk on it, paint it, and put stickers all over it, then make stupid top designs all based on some of the poorest thermal transfer methods to start.
Soo Ya live with it and go on, because generally they come that way, and changing it voids the warrenty and can destroy them $$$.
In addition, due to funding limitations, the aforementioned Lucifer build is not something that's happening anytime soon. This is more to get a sense of what my dream PC would look like.
Selecting parts that play nice with each other, getting to know what case and thermal solution choices exist and how they differ, etc.
This is a more realistic build: pcpartpicker.com/p/MsWDNG
This is the build I call Alastor and it fits in a more reasonable, although still high, budget.

@DragonLord certannly is more reachable. the #1 "base" item (for me) is always the motherboard, if it sucks the whole computer does :-) and it is the hardest to replace, or even upgrade. I would spend the most time picking da big mama.
As in hours reading reviews, and users threads on the specific board, for what ticks them off, and will it bother me for my purposes.
For me, motherboard and PSU are the first things to select.
The Noctua NH-D14 thermal solution comes with its own thermal paste, so I don't need to add a tube of AS5
they have come out with ~4 air coolers that beat the noctura finnaly, within the same general noise levels. but it is still a premium sink still recent applied by overclockers.
WOO HOO! I AM INVINCIBLE!
I uninstalled all the Apple products on a Windows machine in the correct order!
23:42
sure but how do you know they did uninstall?
They disappeared from the Start Menu and from the Programs list... I'm working on a 3 year old image at work
Worst case scenario, I know to Nuke it From Orbit (TM)
Well dont look in the registry, there are just some things better off not seen :-)
