I have a number of ogg and mp3 files with some tags, but basically it's a mess. What I'd like to do is the following:
Get their tags right
Get their album art embedded in them so it shows up on my Android phone
I am willing to re-rip them if necessary.
If re-ripping is what I have to do, I wan...
ASMediaXHCI controller, need to burn updatable driver to upgrade my usb software windows 7 OS Have tried, but system asks for disk to complete the upgrade.
My company has rented a dedicated server. Usually the company I have rented from in the past installs a non registered version of Windows. I update it and install our own license.
This time, it looks like x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu was installed, at least that is what is shows when I log in. I am a...

Can I recovery the contents of a file which was filled by zeroes? my notebook somehow lost the power and when I turned on my machine back some of the files open in a text editor was filled by zeroes. The file size of both files keep intact but there's nothing but zeroes in the file.
Sometimes my laptop overheats crazily when I play a video game.
That's why sometimes I use an ice pack to help cool it down.
Is this dangerous? Like if the water from the pack melted or something? Will it cause any issues if I just apply an ice pack directly to the laptop?
If i create a shortcut of a folder(which is located on shared network PC/computer/drive) in my computer. With 130 entries, the drop-down menu at the top of the page is quite large and less usable.
For instance, if I want to go to a mathematics-related topic, I need to be aware that several exist: Mathematica, Mathematics Educators, Mathematics, MathOverflow, plus Cryptography.

Stack Overflow is beginning an experiment called Stack Overflow TV, or SOTV for short.
It will be a series of fast, smart videos for experienced programmers who want to learn a new thing. The videos will serve as a complement to Stack’s Q&A, and intended for that community. Of course, they will ...
HTC One is a series of Android and Windows Phone smartphones designed and manufactured by HTC. All products in the One series were designed to be touchscreen-based and slate-sized, and to initially run the Android mobile operating system (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or subsequent Android releases) with the HTC Sense graphical user interface. From 2010 to 2013, all HTC products starting from the HTC Sensation XE to the HTC One Mini were equipped with a Beats Audio equalizer. Later HTC devices beginning with the HTC One Max no longer ship with Beats Audio following the buyback of HTC's stake in...
I'm so close to 20k that I could answer one good popular question, or 5 meh ones, and get it today
would have gotten it much earlier, except I put up a 500 bounty
the annoying part is when I write up an answer that provides suppositions or opinions or things that may or may not be 100% correct, those tend to get more upvotes than ones where I completely nail down the problem beyond a shadow of a doubt >.<
It shows "Internet Access" whenever a ping request returns a success for pinging "www.windows.com". This means that if your system is set up to redirect you to a payment page or something of that sort, it is going to return a ping from there too, tricking the computer that it is connected to the ...
I... what?
That's not even right. And he posted that two hours after my comment!
I'm sure you've upvoted me 50x more than the average person... I wonder if SU has a limit on how many times one person can upvote another, irrespective of time?
I actually want meta upvotes more than main site upvotes, really. @nhinkle once called me a prolific meta contributor and ever since then I've been like, "Yeah! I really am!" and have tried to do as much as possible to help on meta
I have an inverter that generates modified sine wave output. My newly purchased AC adapter for my laptop is not working (first thing I tried it on was the inverter), and I'm wondering: could the modified sine wave output could have damaged my AC adapter?
I've been looking for an appropriate Stac...
@Bob the announcement of AMD acquiring ATI landed in late July 2006... by 2008 or so I'm pretty sure the Catalyst driver had a new icon that did not contain "ATI"
worst case, let's say 2009
so their graphics driver must be at least 4-5 years old
they might have installed it from a CD that came with their (ancient) graphics card -_-
"oh? you mean that drivers get updated after the card is released?"
I really want a BT 4.0 on-ear headset (with mic). with lots and lots of battery life :P
right now I have BT 4.0 over-ear which is not the ideal comfort (and sound leaks out around the edges), and BT 3.0 "on-ear" but it's really over-ear because it doesn't fit quite right ;p and same leakage problem
the one thing I liked about my Beats, aside from them being absolutely terrible at delivering actual sound, was the hardware construction -- they fit perfectly on my ears and snugly, and didn't let any sound escape
I might just buy those Sennheisers anyway. I don't really mind having to charge them every day. only problem is they might actually die on me during the day, which could be annoying
the Matrix2 lasts 22 hours, which means it's physically impossible for me to work late enough to have to recharge them during the workday (I have to leave the building by 11pm; management rules)
@Bob I may end up buying the Sennheiser headset anyway, mainly because I know how great Sennheiser's build quality and sound quality is, and I'm willing to overlook BT 2.1 + EDR support because it supports apt-X; I'll just have to remember to keep it charged... would be great if it had a swappable battery though.
problem is, headsets are hard to judge their comfort just by a picture. I know the Sennheiser MM 450-X would work for me because the physical construction of the cups is identical to a cabled pair I have from 2008 and those fit me perfectly.
I can't tell from the pic if those Sony cans would be as comfy.
and Sennheiser's pro (cabled) monitoring cans are an 11? :P
I really, really like headphones with a "flat" response -- let the music itself create variance. I don't want an opaque unmodifiable equalizer on my bluetooth headset's DSP chip.
also, on a tangent, I hate how KitKat (incl. all minor releases) has broken the bluetooth volume so it no longer remembers the media volume is different between different bluetooth devices
