We had the World Cup earlier this month. There's stuff scheduled for it, being built and delivered after the World Cup ended. And stuff cancelled (after millions have been spent, obviously).
@ThatBrazilianGuy I live in the countryside, close to a mushroom farm, which just got a grant for a couple million dollars to have it enclosed. This mushroom farm is a money making local pest which can definately afford it on it's own. Meanwhile, I can't get the municipality to change a light bulb on ONE street light to a directional one.
If you are running specialized applications that require the ABSOLUTE URL to include or not include www, then you need to make sure you point it to the right name
I have to send a file between two servers and I can only do it with PHP... the file in question is a backup file which I will be asking for on a daily basis... on the requesting server the call will be initiated through a daily cron job... on responding server, lets say www.somesite.com/get_file.php, I would ideally like to generate the file (not a problem) and send it back
I've considered using cURL, but can't figure out how to get that setup
... I'd find another way if it's a large file. You could crash your HTTP server if it's too large, or you could just get no reply from the source server
If you post the file to a place that's readable via the web, remember other people can also download it
@Kate no idea about PHP, but the concept is: they call HTTP GET /url; you return an HTTP response. your response can have a response body and content-type, etc
@JordanRichards like I tell my coworker who pulls the same thing on me ("I tried it and it still doesn't work :(") -- what you are telling me is not actionable; you need to convert your non-actionable information into actionable information
@ÃŁŁǫǛȉЖΦΤїҪ there's a gap in time, then after around 8 seconds, it just goes back for me to enter another command. No output. (I have my RDP open in the background too)

go to tiyukquellmalz.org/gateone and log in -- all I get is your email address -- then click on the big terminal button, and when prompted, put in a URL like this: ssh://your-server.com:22
enter your login info and let me know. I won't steal it, I promise, it doesn't log the data
it's an open source web SSH terminal thingy I have on my server
(tiyukquellmalz.org is my box)
once you are logged in you can share the terminal by clicking on terminal settings on the right-hand side of the screen
you should see my email in the list of users to share it to
don't share it to everyone or even to "Authenticated Users", just to my email: smcnam at gmail dot com
and after a looong day, the solution turned out to be a measly four lines header("Content-Type: application/gzip"); header("Content-Length: ".filesize($file)); $fp = fopen($file,'rb'); fpassthru($fp);
