mono lets you install Qt yourself. and it gets dynamically loaded at runtime by resolving with the library search patch

@JordanRichards well, considering I spent about a week trying to get my system bootstrapped when I compiled Gentoo from Stage 0 when I was a noob...

I spent like 24h building Mozilla suite (this was when they still preferred Mozilla Suite over Firefox, since Firefox was in beta or something) and then realized I had to change a configure flag and make world again....

this was back when I/O, memory, the scheduler, the CPU, etc. were much slower

nowadays you can compile Xorg, the kernel, and firefox (all together) in under an hour

tempted to rent one of AWS's high IOPS SSD systems with like 4 Xeon CPUs and see how long it takes to make world on gentoo with -j30 :D

this is a new VPS. the logic for using AncientOS escapes me

It was required for technical people, at least here in my province... Every tech shop has to boast that their techs are certified, and they use that as the measuring stick

but once they leave our internal team, and get sent to the customer, the customer never looks at them
