@JourneymanGeek Seems easy enough! :P eviltrout.com/2014/01/22/embedding-discourse.html
@Bob discourse is pretty heavy in terms of resource usage, and is pretty involved in setting up and running ;p
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek I think I can spare the resources :P
@Bob: minimum of 1gb ram on the host. for a forum?

Yea... I think I can spare the resources :P
@Bob: and the setup process is slightly complex, and assumes you're not using the server for anything else ;p
It is, thank $deity, well documented

@JourneymanGeek That's why I have everything running in vservers :P
Heck, the site itself is going to run on a vserver behind nginx reverse proxying on another vserver
I'm heavily abusing containers.
Heavily considering it.
@JourneymanGeek I'll probably try Isso first.
My main concern would be whether it can filter spam or not.
holy shit
@JourneymanGeek Hosted Ghost is... expensive: ghost.org/pricing
08:40
5 dollars a month? That isn't VERY bad
unless you're having more instances, but at some point...
also for spam filtering akimset + wordpress works well ;p
@Bob: what language/db is ghost?
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek For 10,000 views...
@JourneymanGeek node.js, I forgot what db
That is quite a lot
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek could be used up in a few minutes, if you get linked from somewhere
then your blog is down until you pay more
no thanks.
@JourneymanGeek SQLite, apparently.
thats potentially quite light
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek You can also chuck it on MySQL or Postgres if you want :P
08:47
lol. postgres or sqlite is good
Bob
Bob
I'll probably use SQLite
should'nt be too hard to migrate to Postgres if it ever grows... which it probably won't
sqlite has no server, postgres is tiny
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek I know that :P
I know that ;p
Bob
Bob
xD
08:49
if I had a node.js instance for anything other than dispatch proxy....
(and I run that on my desktop ;p)
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek Hm?
lol
I tend to stick to stuff than runs on PHP cause most of what I have running anyway runs on it
Bob
Bob
urk
problem: isso runs on python, ghost runs on node, both need their own port...
@JourneymanGeek eww php :P
yeah ;p
it may be shitty, but there's a load of stuff I use on it
(rutorrent, ttrss, wordpress....)
Qt Creator is awesome.
It's simple and powerful.
09:18
pokes at path of exile
I've heard good things about it, but its taking ages to download
09:52
ahh finally!

I need a different theme, though.
@JourneymanGeek what keeps what? :P
Heh, I like how the "share this post" thing isn't actually linked to anything :P

(please scrub the last hop, and your first few as well - I'm only interested in the cogent ones)
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek thanks
damn, it's through he
I'm trying to find another cogent trace :P
@JourneymanGeek is it alright if I share that trace with support?
no problem
Bob
Bob
thanks!
afk a bit. If it helps, my ISP is starhub
Bob
Bob
11:11
@JourneymanGeek yea, I'm mostly concerned with cogent at the moment. thanks, though
oh for fuck's sake
it's fixed itself -_-
@JourneymanGeek looks like I'm not filing a ticket today :P
I'll hold onto the traces for next time, though
Bob
Bob
13:00
damn
as nice as ghost is in some ways
it needs search
it needs tagging
I might switch to WP (@JourneymanGeek)
hm
it comes with RSS, but no sitemap
13:17
what is as nice as ghost?
@Bob: WP has one thing in its favour - mindshare ;p
13:44
@HackToHell that has to be deafeningly loud
14:17
@allquixotic: google has earplug dispensers outside their data centers for a reason
;p
14:32
heh
turns out POE has a hidden local server
I'll try it tommorrow, its a load of fun outside being so damned unreliable
I will probably break out the orbweaver if it dosen't keep crashing ;)
I'm probably being slightly more charitable since Its free. I was much too teed off at DIII when I had much smaller cnnection issues ;p

fuck you quora admin
What did you have?
Would CodeBlocks be a good choice for a C++ IDE? I'm learning C++. Visual C++ is over 700 MB and I don't think I'll end up using most of the stuff it offers.
CodeBlocks is only 30 MB.
Well, I mean, I wouldn't require the extra 600 MB stuff that VC++ has to offer, right?
Nvm, I'll go for CodeBlocks then.
17:45
There's word in English about consition where you feel sleepy. This word is something like drowny?
Drowsy!
Lethargic?
Yeah, that too.
Yes. Does that happen to you when you ate meal on lunch?
Not really. Though it's a common occurrence among many.
Just google, you'll find plenty of results.
Ah actually, I was looking at only the IDE. With the compiler and the debugger, the download is at a 100 MB.

Q: Unplanned Achievement - Lost ~72.8 lbs (33 kg) But Was It The Correct Way Of Doing It?

Boris_yoBefore reading further, I want to make the following disclaimer: My casual experience of losing weight documented below is strictly not for everyone and should not be treated as an advice until at least commented by experts and claimed to not represent health risks. I have a casual succ...

Q: What's with "space shuttle" IDE cables?

Jean-Paul CalderoneI was recently going through an old box of junky computer components and I happened to notice that one of the old dusty IDE cables had the words "SPACE SHUTTLE" written on it (amid the other somewhat less cryptic information, like "300V" and "105°C"). Then I googled around a little bit and I fou...

Yo , my cables been to space :-)
Only if it had 4 layer redundancy , Huge interlockers that connect and disconnect with klugey gloves on, made with pure copper wire and tested 50 ways for certification.
23:31
@hennes superuser.com/a/735288/98855 ""Most cables between a wall socket and a computer are interchangeable."" Suuuureee :-) they use that same connection here to our 120V PSUs and switchable PSUs. Luckily i cant plug that wall end in any 240V places around here :-)
The post never specified which country and I consiously added default EU power values. expecting a comment on it from the OP
Also, I added an arrow to the relevant part of the picture
I could have snipped off the other end of the cable, but I was to lazy to do that
Much and much stuff is now supporting both voltages, but it is rather odd to have the same connection for 2 completely different things.
I shuld have checked if sqrt(2) * 240 is 400 though
In my mind 220v and 380v are still 'natural'
Naw the eropean voltages are the weird ones :-) Us americans have the right voltage :-)
It has been ages since we moved from 220 (normal) and 380 (special 3 phase industrial) to 240v
h,mm. sqrt (2) * 240 is 339.
Apparently my knowledge of AC is lacking somehow
23:41
Here there are so many of those cables, really do not know what device they originally belonged with . Very handy when some are longer and shorter, for cable management.
@Hennes fase is spelled Phase Like a Phaser.
Yeah. Dutch "fase". English "phase". Dunglinsh: if (random()) then one else theother;
Fixed however. Thank you for noticing.
