Re netflix: I spoke yesterday about that with a friend who libes in the Netherlands, but has an american credit card (as well as an american wife, which is why he has a bank account over there).
The answer was that for some devices (hardware player) he needs to change the DNS resolves IP, and for other devices (lapotp, desktop) the same change was not enough.
Also, netflix NL has little content. Not sure if it is worth getting netflix in any country bar the US.
(plug: Anyone want to start a similar service **with** content?)
@ThatBrazilianGuy Some of us are older then modern series. We need to look up what that weird square yellow blob is.

I wonder how old Hennes is to consider something released 15 years ago as new. "Install this newfangled Windows 98 on my machine? NO! I'LL STICK TO GOOD OLD DOS! Now get off mah lawn you damn kids!"
12:38
Yup.
Stop wondering and check his profile
I have not watched child series in a long time (I was 5 in 1976, which seems to be the target age)
@Hennes You need life experience to fully appreciate the deep philosophical messages in SpongeBob

There's a subtle non-childish humor in the subtext. Nothing too deep or acid or provoking, but it is there anyway. It's from the same creator of "Rocko's Modern Life". (Not that I enjoyed that show much)
> SpongeBob SquarePants first aired on May 1, 1999.[33][34] During its second season, the show had flourished into Nickelodeon's No. 2 children's program, after Rugrats.
> Nearly 40 percent of the show's audience of 2.2 million were aged 18 to 34.
Phew, no need to worry or feel weird, I'm still on the target age.
I saw 2 minutes of the show. That are two minutes of my life which I am never getting back.
Maybe it was just a bad part, but ...
12:45
No, it's very, very, very, very very very silly
I'd never activelly recommend it to anyone who doesn't already know it and/or enjoys it
Unlike, for instance, the Sandman comics, that I'd say "stop anything you are doing and go read it. NOW."

Thanks but where is admin that can move my question?

@ThatBrazilianGuy Snowden is not Webmasters admin.

@HackToHell I'm not going to forget or ban that "high" command, but is there any chance you can edit it (or find the original image and recreate the caption) to get rid of the "fuck" and replace it with something a little milder? if not, no prob

@allquixotic Just watched a YouTube video. Min brightness, on WiFi, 45 mins - used about 15-20% of the battery.
How does that compare?

@allquixotic ok, I'll do it as soon as I finish watching House Of Cards

@Bob Would I be able to test bootability of bootable flashdrive on virtual machine?
Yes. Assuming you configure the VM to access that device
@Hennes Configure? Is it hard?
I got a 1GB flash drive booting win98SE (into command.com), loading network drives and running ghost. I have used it on Vm in Vmware. So it is possible.
Wait a minute... It's not configuring virtual machine - it's configuring BIOS.
How hard it is will depend on your VM setup.
Os (real or in a VM) or BIOS still expect bootcode on the disk.
/me ponders just removing my volume D (playdata on RAID5) and replacing it with an SSD
Screw the laptop. It does not need an SSD since I use it only twice per week

@Hennes VBox can't boot from flash drives
Crap. My PC rebooted
I was typing a post. AVG popped up and stole focus. And then the PC rebooted
@Bob I never used vbox since I had a legal vmware workstation.
I feel like a typical windows user: Anto virus popups -> disabel anti virus
AVG think they may be something in the file. No idea what though.
(Heuristic detection. A more information link which leads to a webpage with no answers. And all of that during a photorec recovery)

Bob
@Hennes Ya.
Though I'm considering going back to VBox. More portable (I have a growing number of machines I need VMs on, and VMware Player isn't cutting it - and Workstation is too costly for more than one machine)
The main issue with VBox was shitty graphics support - hardware accel for Aero
but Linux guests were fine
Hardware accell in vmware never worked for me. Try to play a game (3D) and crash the HOST OS.

I'd say your host's drivers were fucked
One which only runs on XP but not on win7 X64
Legal license, so I am not discarding it yet.
Bob
Bob
Graphics accel from VMware relies on the drivers on the host, AFAIK
That was an older catalyst driver (AMD 5870)

not surprised
I was trying to play an old game (Baldurs gate 1)

well it only took me about 5 hours between last night and this morning, and an unofficial workaround to force downloading the Windows 8.1 Pro ISO so I could burn and boot it, but I finally got my desktop working again, and I didn't even have to reinstall]
I knew it wouldn't be pretty when I came home and my computer was randomly off; probably a power hiccup
power hiccups without UPS or battery backup and a RAID-0 array = ouch
@Bob obviously... :P the drawing commands in the guest are translated to OpenGL calls on the host
RAID 0 without battery of flash backed cache ?
Hello clippy:

@Bob take a look at the issues on Zirak SO-ChatBot and github.com/AmaanC/Node-SO-Bot
once it's stable I'll be abandoning FF and PhantomJS in favor of that; right now I think it's not ready
but the proof of concept is there

Any easy way to delete all text files from a directory in windows 7 without reinstalling windows search ?
@Hennes cygwin rm find script
Already got cygwin find. Now trying to find out how to use it (I know unix find, but cygwin find seems to be different)
My normal solution to do this on windows is "boot *nix live CD"
E:\recover from testdisk>find -name ".txt" -print
File not found - -NAME
File not found - -PRINT

E:\recover from testdisk>find /?
Searches for a text string in a file or files.

FIND [/V] [/C] [/N] [/I] [/OFF[LINE]] "string" [[drive:][path]filename[ ...]]

/V Displays all lines NOT containing the specified string.
/C Displays only the count of lines containing the string.
/N Displays line numbers with the displayed lines.
/I Ignores the case of characters when searching for the string.
Anyone happen to know if it is possible to connect Win Server user session (console or terminal) without users password?
Ah, the answer seems to be powerhell

A: How do I reset the Windows administrator password?

JetThis method is called Sticky Keys Method Boot from Windows PE or Windows Recovery Environment (or use any LiveCD/USB/ ANY Windows installation disk / Anything bootable that can see NTFS/Fat32/...), and run the Command Prompt. Find the drive letter of the partition where Windows is installed...

Seems like an exploit
@Boris_yo you could also use accessibility tools for nasty things like that...
Actually I tested Win7 login screen user hide/display thing with those :-) superuser.com/a/423392/132604

Grah. 30 minutes of googling, installing find on windows (a very different beast and less capable from find on any other OS), and I end up with get-childitem e:\recovered -include *.dll -recurse | foreach ($_0) {remove-item $_.fullname}
