" Ultimately, it may be wise to forget that such a (I before E) rule exists and always check spelling of words that may have an ie or an ei combination. " Argg, how about I just dont geive a flying leip , and spells it any deim way I want, and liet the user interpreit it as they see fiet.
Would it have been so hard to add 3 vowels , when they designed this english language program, and worked out the bugs before releace? Noo they had to add a feature instead, did we really need Y :-)

A: How can I check if one string contains another substring in JavaScript?

vaibhavThis piece of code should work well: var str="This is testing for javascript search !!!"; if(str.search("for") != -1) { //logic }

wtf
how is that an answer
@gparyani actually no NCSA mosaic ;p
oooooooh
@JourneymanGeek sweet! can we forward-engineer it into IE? :D
@allquixotic: brb, firing up my ubuntu box for mad science.
02:25
Mosaic Communications eventually became Netscape Communications Corporation, producing Netscape Navigator.

Spyglass licensed the technology and trademarks from NCSA for producing their own web browser but never used any of the NCSA Mosaic source code.

Microsoft licensed Spyglass Mosaic in 1995 for US$2 million, modified it, and renamed it Internet Explorer. After a later auditing dispute, Microsoft paid Spyglass $8 million.
Versions of Internet Explorer before version 7 stated "Based on NCSA Mosaic" in the About box. Internet Explorer 7 was audited by Microsoft to ensure that it contained
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosaic_(web_browser) So thats what your talking about.

@JourneymanGeek good luck re-implementing COM
just watched a 9/11 documentary... it makes me think how lucky we are to be OK and to have each other as friends... thanks for sharing so much of your time with me @Bob @JourneymanGeek et al. I love you guys
02:34
@JourneymanGeek well we didn't need all that other stuff anyways :-) , how's it search?
o0
suprisingly well
@JourneymanGeek "what's this javascript stuff?"
Hey guys, my interesting question of the day - I want to make an MP3 cd for the CD player in my car. My car seems to have an idea that i can sorta things into folders. If I make folders with just mp3 files and burn a CD (Just using finder), will it work in the CD player?
@SimonSheehan: depends on the cd player but probably
02:40
@JourneymanGeek sweet. its a fairly modern one (i think) so i suppose so
@SimonSheehan I did mine all on what would be the root. Added random numbers to the files so it would "shuffle" because the player had to have shuffle re-engaged every time again, so before engaging the shuffle i wouldnt have to listen to 50 alan parsons songs, in a row.
@Psycogeek haha yeah mine does that too
okay thanks guys!

Q: My Toshiba Satellite c850 laptop will only display logo screen

Catherine Rowewill only show logo, can't get into BIOS to reset defaults, think it has crashed simply from my own stupid plunking, no beeping/noises etc, any suggestions,? tried all the F2, 0, Fn, stuff, no deal.

@MichaelFrank donno, the Q didnt really provide enough info, but assuming that they could boot, assumed somehow they even posted fully.
The question is about as bad as the answers , making it all a great well deserved team :-)
Yea, the answers are almost answering a completely different Q.

What's Android Beam?
What is NFC and Android Beam? NFC is for data transfer, Android Beam is for what?
@Boris_yo they are both "Near Feild Communication" , I think it is a Short range RF burst type using the coiled antenna? or induction like a transformer style 2 coils close enough to each other.
@Psycogeek Today you are red ant...
I seriously doubt you put in time to change your avatar every time...
So while I dont have the tech right, they are all part of the same close range system, that does tag (which must be similar to RFID, because people are picking them up) And beam , or Phone bump :-)
@Psycogeek What can you suggest I do with this tap? youtube.com/watch?v=l86o_wJvz5A
05:07
@Boris_yo tear apart , get gaskets , add lube to gaskets, replace gaskets plop back together. Having a gasket set (various sizes) on hand can help, even if you dont have the right one, you can try stuff.
While your in there have some sort of acid , like CLR on hand to eat away at calcium deposits if needed.
Of couse like anything it can get much more fun as you get in there. Cranking on it with a wrench and having the whole rusted back end fall off. Having to punch through the wall to fix it and seeing that even more of it is rusting and leaking into the walls, and other fun thing that you wish you never saw.
@Psycogeek Gasket? Why not washer?
@Psycogeek Where would I get that?
@Psycogeek Landlord's flat still who does not want to invest. What does that leave me with?
@Boris_yo sure washer, is similar. In fact i dont know what defines the diff between them
washers are always round, not necessarily rubber
gaskets are usually rubber, or some other compliant material and not always round
Washer 3. A flat disk, as of metal, plastic, rubber, or leather, placed beneath a nut or at an axle bearing or a joint to relieve friction, prevent leakage, or distribute pressure.
gasket (gàs´kît) noun
1. Any of a wide variety of seals or packings used between matched machine parts or around pipe joints to prevent the escape of a gas or fluid.
Looks like washer would be the most proper term, for that.
@Boris_yo Hardware store. If you have to remove more stuff, have "teflon tape" on hand. it beats the heck out of plumbers goop , for connecting pipes, and sealing screw on fixture parts from leakage
05:23
@Boris_yo In the US the landlord either fixes stuff like that, or the renter has many rights. On the other hand They are Up To $3500 for a months rent for 2 bedroom city apartment , If i was getting cheap rent, i would gladly fix a few toilets.
I have spare washer
@Boris_yo That looks almost new?
@Psycogeek Yes
@Boris_yo sometimes when it goes on - off - on in the same turn direction, the washer is just not seated or screwed down tightly
05:25
@Psycogeek Where I leave, contract states that law of renter's rights does not apply. (Shhh) Warning! Gray area
@Psycogeek This is not the washer from leaking tap. This is a new washer I had lying around.
Should I disassemble old tap, check washer and see if it is out of place and needs tightening? Or I could replace it with new.
@Boris_yo you would always put in a fresh seal thing in the moving parts seal when easy to do, if you already have it apart. (and lube things where apropriate) , But your talking about putting in the whole new assembly?
@JourneymanGeek Replacing the head washer on my car engine, is certannly not the same as replacing the head gasket, but it might get some laughs at the parts store :-)
@Psycogeek Well I don't have lubing stuff, gaskets etc. to put into existing moving parts. So I am left with new washer for full replacement. Okay I could get machine oil for lubing, teflon I already have but where would I get acid to eat calcium?
@Boris_yo Vinegar works but it is much slower. I doubt you ever Need that, just being OCD when i see slime and buildup, i must feex it.
@JourneymanGeek bvckup failed me. It does not backup sub-directories.
@Psycogeek hhhhh
My last fix had:

1. CPU and radiator off
2. Cooler did not turn on GPU which led to overheating and blank screen

I assembled CPU and radiator, cleaned cooler from smoking residue and lubed it with kitchen oil. Works well, computer fixed, experience earned 730 points, money earned - $0
Even if they (relatives) treat you like bitch, always try to find something good in it.
05:40
@Boris_yo: thats odd.
In heaven, I hope God will grant me eternal divine life for fixing computers whenever I feel like it.
@Boris_yo How is it that you have an assembly for the faucet item? And one that looks similar to the same style it uses?
@JourneymanGeek That they use me for free? At least I gain experience.
@Psycogeek Assembly? You mean washer?
@Boris_yo: I use bvckup on something with 3-4 layer deep subdirectories.
@Boris_yo The picture , of the plunger washer assembly thing, is that one you pulled out or something you bought ?
05:42
@JourneymanGeek Maybe permissions problem?
@Psycogeek I don't remember really. I don't even knwo if it will fit my faucet.
1. I have no monitor
2. I have no keyboard

With that in mind, should I trash this chassis to unclutter space in my house?
@Boris_yo missed a spot, see the piece of dust in the corner. -10 points, 720 now.
Celeron 2.66GHz... What should I do with it really...
I use something even slower as a seedbox
@JourneymanGeek Seedbox? Mini-CPU?
@Boris_yo: 1.6ghz single core atom
05:45
@JourneymanGeek But in chassis?
no monitor, no keyboard
yeah, mini ITX box
@JourneymanGeek What? How do you see display and control it? RDC?
@Boris_yo oh oh, have you been sneaking into the neighbors apartments and snagging plumbing parts again :-) naughty naughty.
Maybe afterall I could keep Celeron 2.66 and have RDC to it for who knows whiuch purposes... Like running software on it, streaming from it. With RDC I don't need monitor, nor keyboard. But how would I install OS on it without keyboard? Grrr
Where boris lives, if your refridgerator goes out, you dont call the landlord, you just wait till the bitch in apartment 23 leaves :-)
05:48
@Psycogeek Landlord? It is not his refridgerator anyway.
@Psycogeek In russia, refridgerator comes to you.
@Boris_yo thats it
@Psycogeek Come to Russia. Life is easier here as everything comes to you. Even space!
06:00
@Psycogeek Maybe there's really some kind of gasket, rubber loose so I just need to place it well and put teflon. Maybe use silicone sealant too..
@Boris_yo sure silicon (the non paintable kind) is great for going around everything after, so water cant go back into the walls. But i dont know of many areas where one would want to apply it intside. Cant put it in moving stuff, cause it will roll off, dont want it on threads, because it would be unnessisary locking it down, making it harder to remove.
thats pretty neat. There's a pointer when you plug a mouse into an android 4.4 device.
@Boris_yo I would have to learn another language. When i don't even know this one yet :-)
@Boris_yo: putty
the torrent client has a webui
If I wanted a GUI for remote access, nomachine
06:21
@JourneymanGeek that happens in 1.6 and 4.1 too (the curser).

""The Communist Party last year stepped up an aggressive campaign to control online interaction, threatening legal action against people who issued "rumours" on microblogs if they were reposted more than 500 times or seen by more than 5,000 people."" uk.reuters.com/article/2014/03/07/…
BS in Blogs Booo! If we had rules like that here in america half the population (including me) would be locked up :-) Freedom Of speech Yay!
Examples hacksurfer.com/posts/… ""The NSA had contact with Aliens recent NSA paper reveals"" of course aliens would also use a base 10 numbering system , apply similar mathamatic symbols, and even use some of the 27 english letters for variables.
Because everyone knows that with numerous langages that are all over the planet, aliens only ever pick up english in radio broadcasts and while stealthfully surveying our planet in cloak.
of course
and they're all humanoid
It therin would be no secret for the last few symbols applied , that might look odd to some people, can be found in glyphs in standard fonts of american computer systems. There would never be anything different, that could have even occured Here on the planet, had one person thought just slightly different, or another person didnt follow that.
Meaning we are so ingrained into the training we have , even across country and language, that our conception of normalcy and alien, moves on a scale of 1-100 to about 2. When i percieve that a civilisation with completly different input, possibly different structure (be that even thin and grey with big eyes) would hit the scale at about 50. With us thinking it to be totally wrong, incomprehensable, completly insanely different.
-It is even rediculous to assume that the conception of 0 & 1 as a binary simplicty , is a method of communications. When it would have been As Easy for a different civilisation to have applied the same transister structures we utalise to think binarly , In something more than an On and Off switching.
_ if it was not for thousands of years of stale linear thinking by the entirety of the populations , what we deem as inteligence , would Not have been passed easily from generation to generation. So the mere proof of our great advancement in a very stale and limited way, is also proof that there was not much adaptation beyond that.
We wouldnt be where we are today, if everyone went off in wildly different directions.

Q: C compiler in command prompt

George NewtonIt is my understanding that the Windows operating system (windows 7 to be exact) must come with a C compiler because the OS is written in C. How can I access such a compiler to compile my C source code?

@Bob: I have a key puller. I pop out all the keys and rinse/dry them, then brush the rest of the keyboard, and wipe the bezelish stuff with a wet cloth, then put them back in
take all the keys off, spray with compressed air
Thats every 4-5 months tho
I use cyberclean every week or so for 'regular' cleaning
sigh sadly that you've just emptied a joint worth of weed out of your keyboard
10:18
you could roll it up with all the dead skin and oil and finger nail clippings and smoke it.
