(though, apparently my new phone has a very nice, built in app that silences it when I have meetings set on my calendar (I assume they mean the google one), and when I set it as my sleepytimes)
Speaking of new phone, heya @ThatBrazilianGuy
Hi. Zzzzzz.....
I wish humans had a wakeup function
There's two
One is called "Caffination"
The other is called "A bucket of Ice Water"
@slhck: I do believe he's suspended on AU
Too bad I'm provably the only one I T person who doesn't like coffee
@ThatBrazilianGuy: dosen't need to be coffee ;p
can be tea, dew, coke...
Hate all those
Whats dew
10:03
Anything with caffeine goes.
Mountain Dew.
Oh, Irn Bru. I miss the stuff :/
@ThatBrazilianGuy I dont do I.T. Or caffiene, i would if it would work , but what goes up just comes back down again.
Banned in quite a few countries too ;p
Irn Bru, heh. Used to drink a lot of that stuff when we were in Scotland with school.
10:04
Like, the water that gets stuck in plants at midnight? There's caffeine in it? WOW
As kids, note.
Ditto when I was in the UK
But y'know. Gotta stay loyal to Red Bull because it's from Austria.
@slhck: Actually, they licenced it from the Thais ;p
om nom nom redbull
10:05
@psycokeeg you do enoufh IT to be a RA regular
@JourneymanGeek I know, that guy just knew how to make loads of money off it.
Thais is a female Brazilian name
@ThatBrazilianGuy: and rants about newfangled garbage a lot ;p
@ThatBrazilianGuy What. "Red Bull"? nvm
@ThatBrazilianGuy: Thailand ;p
@slhck: Its probably what people call their mother in law behind her back.
10:06
lol
Someone please put me in a construction cart and drop me at work.
@ThatBrazilianGuy Dont you have the Pnumatic drop system yet?
No, but I'd love a work-from-home system
There's nothing on the office that I use except, hmm, thr pc
Working from home isn't for everyone.
Well i should try moving
If I dont come back in 60min I failed
We will remember your valient effort, and part out your worldly goods! ;p
@ThatBrazilianGuy just remember there are a lot of people in america who would love to have that job, they sent over to you to do cheaper :-)

Q: TOR with SSH Server on top of it

guestOne of the problems with tor is the exit node - if it's a malicious, it can sniff all the traffic. If I will chain TOR and SSH server (TOR->SSH Server->Internet), the exit node will be able to strip my traffic or it will route it to the SSH server and only the SSH server will be able to see the s...

Anyone else see the same problem I do?
@JourneymanGeek uhh if any of this is true "As of 2012, 80% of the Tor Project's $2M annual budget comes from the United States government, with the Swedish government and other organizations providing the rest,[16] including NGOs and thousands of individual sponsors.[17] On December 17, 2013, the Tor Project announced that it would begin accepting bitcoin, . . . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network)#History
10:19
@Psycogeek: Tor was developed by the US navy
Then the TOR network along with bitcoin, is proably a perfect way to "consolidate" crime, making it much easier to track. Beings they had so much trouble with tracking everything.
And poof goes silk road.
@Psycogeek: with privacy the US government has a mild case of MPD
They want everyone elses citizens to have privacy from their own governments ;p
well they dont have our consitituion :-)
Guys I was arrested yesterday and out on bond now. But something is f--ed! I know I'm risking more warning you guys and my attorney doesn't even want me on the internet but you guys need to know this. When I was in the interview room they showed me all sorts of s--t that they should not know or have access to including conversations I've had with buyers and even DPR. I don't fucking understand.. and when I was in there I was at a loss for words. Something is definitely wrong . . .
(gee was it on the Web , Yes? Was it on the world wide web? Yes. uhh then whats wrong :-)
@JourneymanGeek ? Dread Pirate Roberts mashable.com/2013/12/20/fbi-silk-road-arrests
10:29
@Psycogeek: I've read the court documents
its SERIOUSLY solid detective work
@slhck funny thing is, I could really do with a good tool in my kit for something like this... Shame there are so many bloody spammy ones!
@JourneymanGeek it kinda has to be in the US, they quit hanging people on trees 50+ years ago. so there is a lot of laywers and legalese stuff that if it is not followed correct , things get thrown out.
@Psycogeek: I mean, they tracked the guy down on SO through a username ;p
@WilliamHilsum Yeah, it's probably hard to find anything that's not shady. I don't know if there's an actually honest review out there.
10:36
The best PST recovery tool is a backup :P
My friend who knows way less about computers says "how then is TOR more safe and secure, if it goes through 4 times as many computers"
I tried to explain that it would specifically go through computers like say a Hackers computer , who also wants to be anonomouse, just to reasure him that it is perfectaly safe
@OliverSalzburg: The best recovery tool, period, is a tested backup
man, the android SE app gets updated a lot
Hello. I've many PC on Windows 7/8 I want to install chrome on all those PC, I've two extensions (adblock + ghostery) to install on each Chrome installation of each PC.
The fastest way I found to perform this is to install chrome manually on each computer then install adblock + ghostery again manually on each computer... is there any way so I can install both adblock + ghostery and chrome at the same time
Or is it the fastest way ? :)
@Clippy potentially you could trace the install (discover all changes made) then make scripting stuff that makes those same changes. My other browser, i can just drag and drop and it finds all the plug-ins and its done. But that one is more portable. is there a portable version ?
10:53
@Psycogeek Yeah, that's a good idea, I think I'll go for a portable version of Chrome, I just need to know how I'll manage the updates for these portables versions but that should be ok thank you
@Psycogeek I know this is not the same thing as Tor, but how website such as Hackforums and Blackhatworld can still be online ? I never understood that can someone explain me ? Yes they're (or their members) offering/selling black hat softwares, black hat services, sharing hacking/scamming methods..
@Clippy they have rules there too, things they cant/dont say outright? then in america were supposed to have "freedom of speech" which was supposed to extend to any sort of possible discussion. It is "action(s)" that were supposed to be illegal. But lots of that has changed with the digital laws, laws put in place because digital made things different.
I believe it is now illegal to publicly discuss breaking protections for example. Then there are (as always) exeptions, because protections (general) still have to be discussed to inovate them.
11:12
For a second there I thought Clippy had become alive.
4
It is also legal (or tolerated) to sell any sort of software or hardware to break into (the disclaimer) Your Own computer network for testing security.
@OliverSalzburg Smart ass
:P
So you can test your security with our little black box, that will find every exploit steal all your data (for testing) and ship it off to some web servier you have setup. And we know for sure that people buying that would be using it just to test. (sure)
@Clippy: You might be able to load the .crx files directly.
which would, at least, save you some download time
@Clippy: would these systems have different accounts or the same one?
12:11
@Clippy: it looks like you're trying to install chrome on all those PC. Would you like some help?
> I believe it is now illegal to publicly discuss breaking protections for example.
You mean Information Security is outlawed?
@Psycogeek Alright, so the forum rules and the way of how black hat software/methods are shown can cover all illegal "actions".
@slhck With the technological progress, now Clippy can't help you to do anything, it's now time for him to ask questions.
@JourneymanGeek Yeah that's also a good idea & they'll have different accounts.
@ThatBrazilianGuy [Yes] No Cancel

So, the German highest court published their take on re-selling used digitally distributed software: Yep, that's legal. All parts of any license or EULA which say otherwise are void by law. The one who's in charge of distributing the software has to allow the new owner of the license to download it as well as any updates which are part of the license. You're even allowed to break software bought in bulk into parts (turning a 10-seat bulk license into 10 one-seat ones).

Q: Glyphicons become corrupted if Bootstrap CSS file is hosted locally

That Brazilian GuyI'm using Twitter Bootstrap 3.0 on a project. There's a fixed requirement of not hosting any files externally. But when I host the .css and .js files locally, the Glyphicons become corrupted. Here's what it should look like: Using bootstrap.min.css from the original CDN issues no errors, but ...

Oh wait. Glyphicons are .ttf and .eot and .woof and .svg files with hard-coded paths
I hate it when I bang my head looking for a solution, then ask it on SE, then find it myself.
18:12
@CanadianLuke Cool, that means you get to keep it! We should set it up where you can "Buy" diamond status, and anyone that actually clicks on the "Buy" button has a diamond appear beside their name on all pages sent to them and them only, and then blacklist their user account from running in community elections.

How about we make apps for consumer complaint websites such as Callercenter.com available on our phone, too? Since these sites are filled with information about nuisance and scam callers, when a reported phone number calls, the app can just ring an alarm about the caller and display the report. With that, the recipient is alerted. And most importantly, what's nice about this idea is that the recipient will never have to pay for it or buy a new phone to stop unsolicited calls.

@ekaj To be fair... it probably doesn't. Either do the research and leave a comment saying he's incorrect and downvote him, upvote him if he's correct, or move on if you're not willing to do the research to prove him either right or wrong.
If it's an answer, add a counter-answer.

back to real life where everything sucks
@DarthAndroid It's got cool features, but I'd still prefer Outlook for normal, everyday emails
For email, it sucks. But it's encrypted email between FC users. It has communities, conferences, great calendaring... But I love the conferences! Like newsgroups or forums, and we can post attachments and such to it. Plus, access it like a WebDAV drive
And see the history of a message (i.e. if a user deleted it, forwarded it, downloaded attachment, replied, read it, etc), and instant messaginb built in
And forms! You can create custom "apps" inside of it, such as reports or in-out boards, or time off requests, etc. All programed in Python, if you have an admin who knows Python

@allquixotic STOP THE SPOILERS! I haven't read it yet!
@MichaelFrank is that a valid address on one of your local subnets? if not, it's probably just their carrier-grade NAT or router LAN IP

In software engineering, don't repeat yourself (DRY) is a principle of software development, a principle aimed at reducing repetition of information of all kinds, especially useful in multi-tier architectures. The DRY principle is stated as "Every piece of knowledge must have a single, unambiguous, authoritative representation within a system." The principle has been formulated by Andy Hunt and Dave Thomas in their book The Pragmatic Programmer. They apply it quite broadly to include "database schemas, test plans, the build system, even documentation." When the DRY principle is applied su...
