@allquixotic Going through a bit too much old stuff for your taste? :P
Well, considering you work with VBS... :P
@Bob I remember setting up my "passport" account -- they've had that system longer than I thought -- it's Windows Live now obviously

@allquixotic ...I always just used a hotmail account
@Bob well you're on XP, so you haven't seen the higher dissatisfaction levels yet -- if the wauzer were bringing out the OS/2 at the same time as this, I think I'd implode into a black hole

> In December 1999, Microsoft neglected to pay their annual $35 "passport.com" domain registration fee to Network Solutions. The oversight made Hotmail, which used the site for authentication, unavailable on Christmas Eve, December 24. A Linux consultant, Michael Chaney, paid it the next day (Christmas), hoping it would solve this issue with the downed site. The payment resulted in the site being available the next morning.[13]

there is something fundamentally wrong with that
@Braiam It's one of those Easter eggs in Google Translate. If I put the same thing into Bing Translator, it gives me a more plausible result.
(Considering that Microsoft has a policy that it adopted in 2002 that states that it won't put any more Easter eggs into its products).
Windows XP was released just before the adoption of that policy, so it contains Easter eggs.

that explains a lot
@MichaelFrank I don't know, people seem to look for those all the time because they change their e-mail client and still don't use IMAP.
Okay, so the spammers just picked a random topic to spam with?
No, generally the topics are 1) OST/PST whatever mailbox conversion, 2) media conversion (MKV/MP4, DVD creation), 3) password recovery, 4) file/data/partition recovery
Because many users have problems with these topics.
also, there's many scammy companies that make products for it

Bob
Bob
@allquixotic well, it does open to a halfway decent time... on weekdays
much like banks
you'd think they didn't want any customers
14:34
@Bob: cause post offices are obsolete, so if they are never open when people can go to them, they can close them to save money.
here, the only time I can reasonably go to the post office is (1) taking a vacation day from work, (2) VERY EARLY on Saturday morning (ugh), or (3) if something happens at work and they have to send us home (no water, etc)
outside of that, any time I'd think to go there, they're closed
and they're not that obsolete @JourneymanGeek; they're very useful for people who sell stuff online (on eBay, Amazon, etc)
@allquixotic: I was being sarcastic ;p
But a lot of governments are cutting back on postal services for silliness like that

@allquixotic Sorry but I have comprehended it fully successfully. Did I spoil your day?
Our organization uses it "for the articles"

@CanadianLuke This is platform that connects ITs and vendors?
Yup
Cause Stackoverflow doesn't do product recommendations
And IT pros hate ads
Does it allow ITs to interact with customers as well?
@CanadianLuke Cool. Do you use it? Tried it?
@Ash You just use 3.5mm jack or get cheap converter to 2.5mm if there's a need?
@Ash check out these (price has gone down) "passive" speakers for portable devices. It was the only passive (no battery) speakers that output any kind of bass (low frequency) sounds. the others sound tinny. It will not work for headphone outputs that are Cut-down in output (that is where the bad reviews come from) and it is "just enough" sound not high output.
I have been using these for years now, they are not small or very portable. but they make good movie and music speakers in quiet room. With no batteries they certannly are not loud, but it is cconvienitient not having to change the batteries over and over again each week.
