@JohnCavil Please don't post the same thing more than once in a short period of time. If it's a question, try again in a few hours.

(again)
@nerdwaller Hey there! You're pretty special, aren't you? :)
Thanks to the retrotech questions, I have 3 days in the past week where I have more than 150 rep >_>
and repcapped!
14:36
@JourneymanGeek What's retrotech?
@ThatBrazilianGuy OS/2 I SUPPOSE
@ThatBrazilianGuy: old systems/software
well that was one
17
A: Why do some old games run much too quickly on modern hardware?

Journeyman GeekI believe they assumed the system clock would run at a specific rate, and tied in their internal timers to that clock rate. Most of these games probably ran on DOS, and were real mode (with complete, direct hardware access) and assumed you were running a iirc 4.77 MHz system for PCs and whatever ...

And I know this cause I had the same thing happen when I was trying to run crescent hawk's revenge close to a decade ago
@JourneymanGeek Weird thing is I only experienced this stuff on DOS and the author says he gets it on Windows
oh, it happens on windows
Really? This is news to me.
But again, I probably never had an old enough win game running on a new enough win box
14:38
also, if anyone wants some seriously easy rep, for a little reading...
A little too tired to post a proper answer right now, but Someone tried this before and its worth a read. — Journeyman Geek 5 mins ago
@ThatBrazilianGuy: XD precisely

Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek Ya, requires a nice beefy answer :P
XD
most questions do!
hey @bob, the account that you set up last time for me, can i stream music through that?
i dont even know what it is. is it VPS?
Bob
Bob
14:56
@jokerdino It's a VPS.
If you were to set up a VPN on it, then, sure.
It's a US node, I believe.
maybe simple SSH tunneling?
good idea. just need help setting it up
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek Might work. You'd have to convince the Spotify client to go through the tunnel, though.
so the bot has been stable since last night? you guys didn't crash it? wow
maybe might even make it to 24h of uptime
Bob
Bob
Probably some way to force it.
14:57
and it survived Gowtham
@Bob: spotify should allow a socks proxy right?
Bob
Bob
SSH tunneling would definitely be easier than setting up a VPN, if less robust.
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek I have no clue! :P
14:58
@somequixotic: could you dump the greet tho? ;p
Bob
Bob
@somequixotic Isn't @jokerdino on Linux?
I do use that program on Windows.
OH
should be easier then!
in that case it's even easier
just shim libc lol
