Damn DRM. Bought Batman Arkham City and Arkham Asylum on steam with all DLCs for $20 both, turns out I can activate it only on 5 PCs ever. Oh, and only 10 times per PC.
@somequixotic It's megabits, so make it 64 * 8.

It's 5:30pm before a 4 days long holiday. My speed stats at work: 92 times what I have at home.
Emphasis for "at work".

And sucks about the DRM
Nice... Lol
My problem with DRM and activations type stuff is not what they allow, but when it Breaks. The systems they design are attempting to keep from being hacked and adjusted and messed with, that means if any single aspect of the protection does not work as planned, the whole use of the data is disabled.
And nothing ever goes exactally as planned
True.
DRM doesn't stop piracy, and brings more hassle into the lives of paying customers :(
5Pcs, enough for me :-) but take MS, it has thought i have had 8+ PCs, and it has only ever been 1
The PC I installed the game to test it on is my girlfriend's laptop, because mine is ancient. Let's say I want to play this game 10 years from now. So in 10 years I can only own 4 PCs, including laptop, desktop, media center, and I can only format each 10 times? =/
It's a giant PITA

They are always nice to paying customers though, so when they know that I paid, every one of them has provided me a way to run again. After 4Frilling hours on hold ... etc etc
DRM has proven to be unsuccessful, yet companies still treat their customers like criminals until proven otherwise
One reason I like the Humble Bundle, Steam (usually) and GOG
A weird one with ms, i had disabled (by sheer accident) one aspect of thier protections, and a hour or so on the phone , suddenly they gave me some kinda backdoor different style of activation (still long coded bs) and it was back again.
Indie Humble Bundle was what converted me into a game paying customer. Indie games, with freedom to developers to experiment, without DRM, and cheap? Instant love.
That's why you need Screen Capturing software all the time, so you can catch what they do
I often had to phone in activation with XP, because of how many times it failed (hash changed). as xp became obsolete, they just re-activate it via computer without asking anymore. which i hope means i can keep it going for more years.

@Psycogeek For the 2 months before I left my Tech Shop job, I had to phone in every activation... I even have the phone number memorized
1-800-571-2048 for Canada
@CanadianLuke memorised lol
Spell it right :P Like everyone else
the spelling was fine
Not getting the laughing then
:(
remembering a activation number is funny

Ahhh
Yea, I had to do 3-5 a week
got it on my speed dial :-)
Fooking XP
Ever have races with your friends? Who can do the phone activation quicker?
Randomly you shout numbers while covering up your receiver, hoping to slow them down?
@CanadianLuke things to do at a lan party
Bob
Bob
@CanadianLuke Steam is DRM
@Bob Worse, steam isn't buying games, it's just renting them.
