i.e. Do Anything is level 1

if you get all 6s, you get a new skill, related to what you were doing, which is one level higher

makes sense so far

I do opposed rolls. I'll tell you whether you succeed or not. If you fail, mark down 1XP. Each XP lets you change a die to a 6 for advancement (getting more levels) but not success (at thing)

You can see into a foyer. The phone finishes ringing from somewhere behind the left-side door. On the right is a living room.

Blinky would like to slink into the living room and look for evidence of recent inhabitation.

Along the walls are shelves with regular and notable holes in the dust, of variable shape and size. The couch has been shifted a bit from its normal position if scratch marks on the floor are anything to go by

Phone goes off again.

"Whatcha see in there, Blinky?"

"Looks like we've got a reader, Pepper. Who moves the couch sometimes. Not very much of a lead, looks like."

Basalt picks up the phone in their massive hands

" 'ello?"

"Are you there? Did you get there? HELLO??"

"The voice echoing through the house was shrill and panicked, and my brave cohorts and I immediately... did I say that out loud?"

Pepper squints. "You writin' one of your dramatic monologues again, Blinky?"

"Uh... no..."

@bobble "Sure did boss" Basalt says in their least gravelly voice

Pepper peeks under the couch to see if there's anything interesting there while Basalt talks. [4]

"Okay. Okay. I called y' because, well, I can't bear to go back to that place. My gods-forsaken husband ran off with a librarian of all people, if you can believe it. That's all fine and dandy but he took all o' my rare books while doin' it..."

Basalt mouth to the others "What do I say?"

Pepper gives Basalt a really? look while scooping up the scrap of paper.

Making eye contact with Pepper, Blinky recites "My fiery-red-haired colleague, Pepper, delights in spicing up my life in this line of work, such as withholding crucial information that may assist in cracking this case open. While I do not yet know their motives for this behavior, I am determined to find out."
