12:21 AM
(goes on an adventure in the real world... if I don’t make it back I give bobble and North all my XP)

(Lol)
I thought there would be more cooperation solving for the new puzzles, but oh well :/

1:02 AM
@PrinceNorthLæraðr (I had a quick look and looks awesome... but I have to werk sadly :/ will look again this evening :)

1:13 AM
Thanks

15 hours later…
4:25 PM
I told a friend of mine about our little excursion with Grumpy Guy, and he started laughing so hard

I can not see anything that might have prompted such a reaction
We were perfect normal people going about perfectly normal activities

Obviously
Oooooh my friend just told me about feats in Xanather
I have new feats to choose from!

4:40 PM
@Sciborg Only specific classes get a spellcasting focus, right?

Yup, I think it's just all the main spellcasting classes (Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Cleric)

Drat
Oh well

But some classes can also get component pouches I think, would have to look it up

Ah, okay
My friend told me about new feats in XGE that I didn't even realize
Like Elven Accuracy or Wood Elf Magic

Xanathar's Guide to Everything is one of the coolest 5e books, I love the stuff they added :D

4:42 PM
Yeah

Those feats are open to you if you want, i allow those

The only book I currently don't always allow is Tasha, because some of those powers are kinda broken :p

I was originally going to get Defensive Duelist as my feat (I need to AC -_-;), but Wood Elf magic seems really good
@Sciborg Ah, lol

One of my players tried out the Tasha feat that lets you auto-crit if you don't take a movement action. We immediately realized how broken it was and stopped using it
There's also a Tasha feat that just straight up gives you 2nd level spells
They are so broken :P

4:45 PM
Oof
Fighting Initiate seems kinda broken too
Like imagine as a ranger
You're just like
"Yeah, I know I already learned a fighting style, but why not just TAKE ANOTHER ONE?"

Yeah literally it's nuts

Or poisoner

Defensive Duelist and Wood Elf magic are both super good choices though, I've used Duelist multiple times before to bump my AC.

Yeah I'm trying to decide which to go with. Getting a Druid cantrip, Longstrider, and Pass Without a Trace is hella good

Pass without Trace is incredible

4:48 PM
It honestly is
And the fact that I can use it without expending a spell slot or have to learn it

it's basically just "hey, you know how our party is like, visible to enemies? let's fix that"

Exactly, lmao
I think I'll go with Wood Elf Magic just for Pass Without a Trace. Also so I don't have to waste a slot for the number of level 2 spells known

Magic Wood Elf Powers

I really want Silence just to say "no-u" to spellcasters
Like basically 99% of all spells are verbal

"Oh, you wanted to cast a spell? nope"

4:51 PM
Though they could just walk out of the silence zone, which is a bit annoying
But I don't need to cast spells so like
Oh wait, it's a 120 feet

I think it's 120 feet, yeah

Yeah, they're definitely not casting spells

You'd basically silence everyone in the area, including your own party members :p

^
That's the problem
Three of our party members kind of need spells
Especially our friend Ink
Oh wait no
The range is 120 feet
But the effect is a 20 foot radius
> For the duration, no sound can be created within or pass through a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point you choose within range. Any creature or object entirely inside the sphere is immune to thunder damage, and creatures are deafened while entirely inside it. Casting a spell that includes a verbal component is impossible there.

Ahh, so you could plausibly cast it only on enemies

4:53 PM
Yeah

But they could still walk out of it if they were mobile

You could easily walk out of 20 feet
You'd need like an abjuration spell to keep them in there

The only scenarios I've used Silence for are when we already have the bad guys tied up

Or gust
I don't actually see a scenario where it would be useful without affecting my teammates

It's one of those weird situational spells that isn't useful in every case, but when you can use it, it's amazing

4:56 PM
I mean if the bard can't use Cutting Words or Vicious Mockery....
Or the hideous laughter
I would probably take it if I was a class that could prepare spells, but I don't think I would want to expend a spot in the list of spell known for a very situational spell
Especially when there are better spells like Lesser Restoration or Gust of Wind

Yeah. There are better spells

Or magic weapon
Do you think Bonfire or Produce Flame is better?

They're both good for their own things, Bonfire is great for combo-ing with Thorn Whip or other pulling and pushing spells. Produce Flame is more of a "you make a Fire Poof" spell

Can Lightning Arrow/Flame Arrow stack with Conjure Volley?

5:08 PM
Aww :(
Imagine if you could just like

> Lightning arrow triggers the next time you make a ranged weapon attack.

Conjure volley isn't a ranged weapon attack. It's a cylindrical AoE with a Saving throw.

Ah :/
It would be broken if it could
Just imagine you fire a lightning arrow and then sudden a bajillion of them appear in the air
That is
Terrifying
Ah, I don't think bonfire would work as well
Oh wait nvm
Mage hand+Bonfire :P

Mage hand can only push things up to a certain weight, though :p

Bet
I'll probably do Produce Flame

> The hand can’t attack, activate magic items, or carry more than 10 pounds.

5:14 PM
Because fire go poof is fun
@Sciborg BET
Push mice into their doom

I mean, it would totally work on Tiny creatures :P

Just like burning to death poor owls
DIE HEDWIG!

;-;

Conjure barrage seems like such a dumb spell :P
Like could you also take damage from conjure barrage?
Oh wait it's a cone, not a cylinder

Either way, it's centered on the caster. Casters don't take damage from their own spells. Unless they try to for some reason?

5:21 PM
I thought it was cylinder, and I was like, "Hold on, are arrows falling from above you?

Not unless you make them, i suppose

Though it'd be pretty badass actually if a bunch of arrows fall around you and everything just died

i would have to look it up but i'm splitting attention between you and my Slack chat

my coworkers are arguing :p

5:22 PM
No Conjure Barrage is a cone, so no worries
@Sciborg Yikes

6 hours later…
10:53 PM
(curls quietly and "sunburnedly")
