Can I make unactive windows dark in Windows 10? I have a large monitor and work with texts, and sometimes I don't want too much white glare. It would be great to have an option that would change the color scheme of unactive documents to a darker one.

Tried the various colour scheme options?

SS is indeed 5Gbit/sec, so USB 3,
or by another name USB 3.1 gen 1,
And I think these these USB 3.2 gen 1.

(USB 3.1 gen 2 is 10GBit/sec)
And the USB-c port can be anything.. USB 1 over USB-c is legal.
Probably at least USB 3 though, and hopefully with some kind of power deliverably, or even thunderbolt-3 on it
But USB-C is just the name for the plug
Already answered by DJSmiley, but yes.

1985: VGA with analog signal to drive the TV style monitors. Not sensible for flat panels (will work if you do digital -> analog conversion on the PC side, a nd then analog back to digital on the monitor. But meh. direct digital to digital is much better.

Then DVI (ignore DVI-A) with just did that. (Not free to use for manufacturers)

Then HDMI (HDMI 1 is DVI + sound, with a smaller plug at he end of the cable. Personally I find the smaller plug a downside) (also not free)
Note: Some more modern versions of HDMI and DP are more capable now. E.g. include ethernet, properly support 4K (early ones did not). But a cable should still fall in the EUR 4 to EUR 15 range, depending on length and brand.

@Hennes hmmmm well, I don't know wtf i'd use it for
I don't have any usb-c to usb-c cables
I've usb 2 to usb c...

I have multiple USB-c pendrives
And A cable from USB-C to thr USB-external SSD
and a phone with USB-c
So, there is use
MAybe not now for you, but the -C form is becomming more common

yah my phone is usb-c
but right now, it just connects to standard usb chargers

And some versions of USB-C ports MAY include power delivery.
E.g. the work laptop next to me has two USB-C plugs

One I can plug in a powersupply (nice, finally standarised!). Or I can plug that same laptop power supply into my phone (test, works)
And the other is thunderbolt-3, which means It is the only video out on that laptop that I can connectoto my monitor and do 4k

also -C to -C connector, but using DP

wonderh ow I find out what my port does?

11:31 AM
Manual?

randomly connecting things to it, seems like a bad idea?
haha

It should be fool proof. Having said that, there are human in the design process
E.g. charging over USB-C can deliver up to 100Watt power
(disclaimer, up to, see specs and needs a correct USB-C cable)

But if I plug in my phone it negotias how much power to supply, and then feeds the right amount
And I see an increasing number of monitors with the same. PLug in the USB-C port to the monitor. And voila, image on screen and power to the laptop
Though most monitors see to feed max 45w

As for me, I did look in a manual and then printed out on a lalbel printer what my ports were
Downside oif same form factor is that you no longer can see what it does

hmm
Y'all mind if I add a feed to stackstatus?
basically will inform us of planned (and some unplanned) maintainance - going to use this feed twitrss.me/twitter_user_to_rss/?user=StackStatus since its on twitter

@JourneymanGeek Good idea. Go for it!

@JourneymanGeek Hmm. No one boxing? On the other paw we are getting a lot of them ...

Hmm. That's cause I just added it. Forgot oneboxing on Twitter was borked
Then it's quite useless

Journeyman Geek has stopped a feed from being posted into this room

I'll remove it pending a better solution

I have some serious concerns that this obsessive focus on research-based efforts to improve participation looks like an attempt to appear attractive to investors by focusing on user numbers rather than the well-being of the core community. I realize SEI needs more investors in order to survive and grow as a business in the long term (see also meta.stackexchange.com/q/342211) but it's just as important to solicit feedback from the community and be transparent about SEI's business needs so we can actually help SEI prosper without abandoning humanity. — bwDraco 1 min ago

Word 10 is the same as Word 2002 (released 2001). Why are you using a 19 year old version? — DavidPostill ♦ 52 secs ago
