I finally found a way to deal with the disappearing files on win 10
Which happens quite often. File goes missing from desktop. You search the screen inch by inch and then do it again
Still missing
Open explorer, and it is there
Usually I solve this with a 'taskkill /f /im explorer.exe' and restart explorer
But there seem to be an icon representing lego blocks with a measurement tape next to it. Does not seem to do anything intuitive, but if you random click enough the icons get back

disappearing files ¬_¬

Corrupted Access databases ¬_¬
:P

And they tell us "Windows is pretty good these days!" ¬_¬

3:23 PM
taskkill in a batch file is pretty good
I got a few of those on the desktop
KIll all excel.bat
Kill all sapgui.bat
...

Ryzen Mobile 4000 Series is finally here.
But what about idle power and battery life?

Well, it is a lot lower TPD than my intel chips :)

AMD now has process parity with Intel on mobile and remains a generation ahead on desktop.
WTF?
And this is the 35W version, not even 45W.
The best Intel mobile part in this chart is a 45W chip.
And not far off in single-threaded performance.
Battery life?
That's parity with Intel, given the battery sizes.
I really don't know what to say at this point.

@bwDraco reads lots of text ...sure doesn't seem that way
;-P

Y'all've a weird definition of 'sick joke'

4:01 PM
how big is that battery o_O

78 Wh. Nothing unusual.

But what they didn't tell you is that we secretly replaced their coffee with Folger's Crystals that the display is an OLPC XO screen in black and white mode

lol

@djsmiley2kStaysInside or anyone who remembers- did you link a Wifi-controlled plug adapter dealie?
I remember some discussion of it some months back
but my chatsearch-fu is failing me
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope! (repeats)
Or actually maybe it was Geek
but Smiley was involved in the discussion
Alterna-tive-ly
anyone know of a good remote controlled outlet?
must not be spyware, expensive, crap

@bertieb not thinking I did.

Consarn it!
I was so sure

I saw Amazon doing some cheapo tho

Maybe it was geek linking to one of the indie makers
The cheapo ones seem to need some app
I'd quite like to HA it

There was definitely chat about a 'smart' / remotely controlled one

I'll ask geek next time he's around
