I think what he means is it sounds like the output of Flack overstow

Woah. 300% guys!
Like, you'll be CPU'ing at 3 times the speed of sound!
Also, I learned today that, when you put two NVMe drives into a RAID0, it's actually performing at the speed of light
No joke
These are truly marvelous times

@JourneymanGeek no idea why he pinged me though:-)
so stupid question, third week trying to solve my upnp problem. Have this switch I bought. It only seems to work if I hook it to my open-wrt router which dishes out a dhcp address (192.178.x.x) whatever address. Is it unrealistic to connect it to my modem, which has what appears to be dhcp capabilities and then assign my router the local subset? In other words I want to bypass my router but only for a couple devices (non-attackable)
The switch in its current configuration offers out addresses in the same subnet on behalf of the router (so does my extended configured as an access point) so everything is on the same subnet. But I was unable to locate the switch, when I connected the Cisco modem and connected the Internet port to the modem and connected my pc to one of the LAN devices
But it's current configuration doesn't get around my blocked ports, lol
And port forwarding refuses to work on open-wrt (tried many times and wouldn't cause my Windows Xbox app not working) out of ideas :-(

12:32 AM
@Ramhound throw the xbox in a DMZ?

1:04 AM
Tried, that just involves firewall forwarding all ports to one location on open-wrt but I can't get forwarding to work at all. It's possible my configuration is wrong, but something like, cantouseeme doesn't even work when I load up utorrent (with not torrents) but simplest program to use (already installed)
Was actually trying to do that with the switch :-$
But if the switch only works behind my firewall that doesn't help :-$

Bob
@allquixotic those are incredibly noisy
if you can, a proper split system is best

Oh hey, Microsoft made a thing to convert MBR disks to GPT without breaking anything
It might even work on the disk you're currently booted into? Unclear

1:59 AM
Holly 🐮
Well Microsoft is going to convert people to GPT eventually.... or require it they don't make a tool like that without a plan
Figures
I had a 3TB MBR for years wanted GPT for that entire time, difficult or risky, that tool would have been nixe.
Can't decide between going to F&F or waiting till tomorrow :$ no work tomorrow (yeah me)

Does the t420 thinkpads suppprt sata 3 6gb sec in the hard drive bay?
Ping me thanks. Found conflicting stuff on google

@William probably

How would I test it
Because I have a t420 and a sata 3 ssd in it

See what speccy says what revision of SATA is being used
or look up the specifications of the laptop
Or do a benchmark

2:14 AM
Testing it sounds easier lol black magic is what they use right?
I could probably look at what year did sata 3 become mainstream wouldn't be perfect but would be a himt

@William anything newer than Sandy bridge should support it.

2:32 AM
Or run a program and it tells you in less than 5 seconds
😜

Yeah my laptop just died on phone. Will check when I a find place to charge

2:46 AM
Score!
"That's the reason why I asked you to describe your scenario. Consoles like Xbox & Playstation are not working with IGDv2 and you will need to compile miniupnpd without IGDv2 support."
Figured out why upnp isn't working :-)

quack
@William actually. did you try googling it? forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/…

Yeah I saw something like that I'm assuming it is until I test it

When reading from an SSH session using PuTTY (plink), I keep seeing the escape code ESC]0;. Does anyone here know what that means? I could understand an opening bracket, but have never seen a closing one used in an escape sequence.

@WasabiFan I have no idea, but that smells like something for the main site.

OK, thanks for the sanity check; it seemed like it might be something obvious that I'm just too oblivious to understand.
I have a suspicion that it's a code for setting the title, but can't find any reference for it :(

2:59 AM
or some odd codespace thing, which often happens with putty and windows.

@WasabiFan you could use windows subsystem for Linux if on w10 if you want it to disappear

Haha, rubber ducky method FTW :D tldp.org/HOWTO/Xterm-Title-3.html

assuming he's on windows 10, and that's a lot better on creator
lol
@WasabiFan that's what I actually Hope happens for people asking questions in here ;)

@William I'm trying to stream from the session for an app I am writing, so I wanted to understand it to make sure I wasn't blindly deleting content. It looks like I need to kill things between that escape code and BEL.

though
he has a point...
why plink?

3:03 AM
I am writing a script (in Node.js) in which I want to sustain an SSH connection and expose the terminal to a user. Plink seemed the best option for Windows.

3:18 AM
Node is aweosme imo
I want to create a node shell at some point

4:51 AM
eh @jokerdino @HackToHell புத்தாண்டு வாழ்த்துக்கள்
;p
(Tamil new year today. for those who are wondering what the odd script says - it says happy new year...)

Bob
5:03 AM
@BenN Huh. It does bootloader conversion too, ince.
MBR to GPT is easy
Windows BIOS to UEFI boot is hard

Dog
@Bob I appear to have malfunctioning

Bob
@Dog ?

Dog
@JourneymanGeek holy shit back from the annals of vaporware
> It can even do 85.8% of the lofty Rec.2020 space.
That's not all thatimpressi ve
@Bob :-(

Bob
@Dog I'm confused again
yay, repcap
or is that nay, repcap?

Dog
5:12 AM
Hmm $1500 cheaper than originally anticipated but also dropped 120hz :-(

@Bob OLA REPCAP!

Dog
Shame it's displayport 1.2 only. Ffs.
Now to wait for the second gen? Then again it doesn't say it doesn't do 120hz
Just not at 4K

5:33 AM

and when in doubt, just tell the person same to you.

Especially if its an insult
;p

@JourneymanGeek doesn't make it more legible to me :p

You people and your latin scripts ;p

@JourneymanGeek 私はあなたが何を意味するのか分かりません。

@satibel Of course you don't.

It has been fully renovated and it has been fully renovated and it has been fully renovated and it has been fully renovated and it has been fully renovated and it has 5 floors.

hey guys

ooo happy easter to those who dance.
Dog switches to firefox.... and is never seen again?

7:28 AM
lol
its also good friday I suppose

7:44 AM
yah
My dads birthday tomorrow too

8:23 AM
@Bob How... does that work?
@JourneymanGeek Oh, apparently today is also the Bengali new year

Bob
@Rahul2001 It doesn't :P
@satibel So you're saying it has been fully renovated?

Man, Riverdale is gooood.

8:38 AM
@Rahul2001 happy new year to you too then ;p

@JourneymanGeek :-)

Bob
@JourneymanGeek so uh, you know the low-end online.net dedis?
I just found an offer for dual Opteron 248 at $10/month :P
Single core, ~2003 Opteron... and single-thread passmark similar to the Avoton
...at 90W each CPU
they've gotta be losing money on power O_O

lol
link?
I must say I am somewhat tempted at that price

Q: UK ISP where ADSL username is not required?

David BWhen changing ISPs in the UK, and probably many other countries, you can typically leave your existing router in place as long as you can log into it and change the ADSL username and password (the one that gets sent to the DSLAM). Many people are not confident with doing that and so order a new ...

Bob
@JourneymanGeek wholesaleinternet.net/dedicated it's the one with somewhat questionable (6-9Mbps) upstream :P

this needs huge clean up :/
even then it's a terrible question :(

@Bob somehow that provider's webpage gives me bad vibes ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek lol. they're actually not that bad
more responsive than ovh!

9:12 AM
@Bob No favicon on website == RED ALERT!

also, just picked up dishonoured 2 at 50% off ._.

Bob
@Rahul2001 wat

Bob
I have never used favicon presence as an indicator of trustworthiness

Lol, it was a joke
But FB like button on header? o_O

Bob
9:14 AM
eh, they're the ones I've used for a couple years

Also, no mobile webpage

Bob
only moving to ovh because more ips
@Rahul2001 so?
I prefer sites that are relatively minimal and mobile browsers handle them fine
most dedicated mobile sites are laggy nonfunctional piles of shit

@Bob s/mobile //
the web is a steaming pile of junk mostly
sadness and stuff.

@Bob Mine is super mobile-friendly. Not laggy, and not a pile of shit... :P

Bob
@Rahul2001 the fact that it's absed on wordpress refutes at least two of those :P

9:28 AM
@Bob It is not based on WP, actually

Bob
hm? oh, did I mix it up with someone else? o.O

I hate WordPress.

Bob
ah, @JourneymanGeek was the one with wordpress :P
which reminds me, I need to set up Ghost
again

@Bob I use HTMLy. It's super simple and lightweight.

using minimal server specs. With 512MB of RAM or even less
lol
512Mb isn't minimal

Bob
9:31 AM
@Rahul2001 ...the grammar massacre in the first sentence -_-
It looks interesting, but also unpolished :P

@Bob Yeah, it is.

Bob
> If you self host: You'll start with a base cost of around $20/month for a VPS
!!no

nope
I have a 2Tb vps, £7/mo

Fun fact: I'm pretty sure I got all the $x/year VPSs I have via a link @Bob posted way back

Bob
o.O
LEB?

9:43 AM
Heh, yup :D

Bob
ah yea

A happy combination of having nothing that needs more than the bare minimum and being quite content to migrate after a year when the deal expires

Bob
'cheap but unreliable and miiiight randomly disappear'
@bertieb most aren't $x for the first year, they're $x/yr perpetually

Heh, yeah

Bob
for as long as the company lasts

9:44 AM
Which is the service level I'm happy with!
I've had at least one increase

Bob
@bertieb yea, that's rare

And another increase because the company disappeared (was bought out)

Bob
anyway, I switched to proper dedis a while back :P

Fair enough!

Bob
if you were to ask for a recommendation now, I'd say avoid openvz

9:45 AM
Stupidly, I was paying £ridiculous/month for a dedi that I didn't really need (dated back to many moons ago)

Bob
it's usually on really old and basically unmaintained kernels
KVM is still alright, but a bit pricier
@bertieb what's 'ridiculous'? :P

@Bob £30ish for peanuts of a spec
Horrible expensive, but it was for client stuff so it kept going for years
Probably started in ~2004/2005 and migrated once during that time
Hence peanuts spec

Bob
ah

It kinda made sense at the time

10:02 AM
@Bob WordPress mostly works :p
Been toying with switching tho

yaaaaaaawn
So dead at work today.

10:20 AM
@JourneymanGeek Happy new year :)

lol
My mom would get upset if 1) I did it early 2) did it in anything but tamil ;p

if ever there were a valid reason to VTC "Unclear what you're asking", that post exemplifies it

Well not any more

what is this cultural phenomenon? is it just laziness? wanting others to do your thinking for you? this question hits the PhantomJS mailing list; subject: "How to read the phantomjs source code?"
> I am no c++ expert. But I'd like to start somehow. Please advice.

TIA
- deostroll
> Hi,

Things like QString, QVariant, QMap...they aren't native to c++. So what sort of framework or library is used here?

- Arun

lol
@allquixotic vaguely cultural

12:13 PM
there's the follow-up question; now tell me, @JourneymanGeek, I know you're not a programmer, but what would you do if you want to know what QString, QVariant or QMap is from, as far as "framework or library"?

Its... complicated

might you.... I don't know.... google it?

@allquixotic fucking google it.

DING DING DING!!!! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!

What's Google??

12:13 PM
Actually these guys probably have no idea how to synthesise an answer from multiple sources too

All the review queues are empty!
\o/

@allquixotic a lot of these guys arn't programmers cause they love coding
they're programmers cause its a respectable profession

they're rapidly helping to ensure it's not

and chances are many of them mugged their way through the sort of outdated education that @Rahul2001 and others complain about ;p
@allquixotic kinda sorta
its probably made worse by multiple factors
and there's enough good rockstar devs that most people see those and not the sweatshop crowds

Q: Is my proposed webcam going to be better than the inbuilt one?

pyrrie_zI have a friend who I cam with on a webcam site. He has Precario Cq45. Full specifications in photo attached. He uses the built in camera in his laptop. I want to buy him a new webcam so I can see him in higher definition. The one I'm thinking of is the Logitech C920. Logitech C920 Im pretty sur...

12:19 PM
That... I do not want to google.

yeah
there's an image linki n the question

@djsmiley2k I completely missed that on first readthru

i didn't want to click as at work.

Its clean

It's safe

12:19 PM
@bertieb this is why I win reviews :D

I took that hit for the team

if i was at home i'd happily click

kinda tempted to delete it actually

urgh
do i really want to call xls2csv from php o_O

12:20 PM
@djsmiley2k 1 more rep!

oh mah god.
@Twisty Also hi,
i've commented on ur stuff I think o_O

@djsmiley2k you have my permission to party like you have 1999

Who did that! xD
Someone just upvoted my psu answer. xD

@djsmiley2k I just had to find something of yours to upvote
@djsmiley2k You keep filling up the Suggested Edit queue!!! :)

@Twisty You say "filling up", I say "Helping me get to Steward" :P

12:24 PM
That's a much better perspective

@Twisty No he doesn't - all the review queues are empty for the first time in living memory :)

I remember when they were empty
a very long time ago

@DavidPostill First time I've ever seen it. What happened to those 1000 questions in the Close queue anyway? I've been wondering that...

@Twisty moderator election effect
;p
Actually I was suprised we didn't get more flags too

12:27 PM
\o/

(some candidates in the election I stood in tried to inflate badge and other counts)

How?

The most recent election was downright boring ;)
@Twisty people basically going nuts on meta, queues and flagging
This election... I think people just went "ooh, big queues"

Dog
Well fuck

@JourneymanGeek hehe
@Twisty no no no I don't
I add about 3 items / 2 hours
if the queue is filling up that quickly then we need to keep me over 2k ;)

12:33 PM
@djsmiley2k Yeah, filling up might be an overstatement. I'll miss seeing your edits in the queue. But now I'll see your avatar in the recent reviews list. That'll be good.

@Twisty you'll still see them i believe?
Only mods skip the queue, or so I'm told.

@djsmiley2k Not sure what you mean? See what?

ok wtf
this printer had 2 jobs on it (not the queue, on the actual device) showing 'deleting'
they wouldn't go away, we powered the device off for an hour
put it back on
the job status changes to 'decomposing'
WTF?!

12:49 PM
congrats @DavidPostill

@AndyK What for? ;p

@DavidPostill maybe he finally noticed you're a little blue? ;p

@MaxVernon thx

Bob
@allquixotic again?!

@Bob I think he's quoting TFM

Bob
oh

hm. I just broke a glass screen protector for my watch
not sure if that's good or bad

1:17 PM
another one?!

Bob
o.O

just the screen protector, not the screen
I guess it worked as designed, it was cheap and I have a spare.
also, its slightly too large ;p
so it had a tiny bit of a lip around the glass

Dog
My tempered glass screen protector lasted all of 3 days before it got a crack
Chip

oh, this broke across
than peeled off.

Bob
too large would be an issue, yes

is that's what's wrong with your keyboard then?

that's a very good point

hmmm @dog and @Bob can one of you colour in your gravatar?
it's hard to distingush between you at a glaance :(

@djsmiley2k @allquixotic has one too.

Bob
1:26 PM
@djsmiley2k and I thought theirs was closer to @allquixotic's -_-
I'll change mine in a couple days

ok :D
i just see a small white box with some black in it
you both have 3 letter names
:/

Bob
^ possibly my next one

how did I get this system to curl out to the net previously and now it doesn't work :/

sooooooooo what's wrong here :(
it always thinks it's not a csv.

Bob
probably because CSV doesn't have a magic number

but the php docs say this works
the mimetype command works - 'text/csv'

Dog
@djsmiley2k But what about @allquixotic and that other guy with the thunderstorm

dunno
not noticed them :P
i just looked at you two and couldn't tell the difference -_-;;;
mah eyes r bad
this screen is bad

@Dog yah @ThatBrazilianGuy's one also clashes
@allquixotic's names long enough that it instantly stands out
Ignore me if you don't care.

Dog

Speaking of Wordpress (earlier); I have a 1.3Gb wp_posts table, which seems to be filled with Jetpack JSON requests
I don't even

@bertieb That's because you are odd ;p

@DavidPostill I think remember having issues with Jetpack request in the past, and doing <something> to try and track the problem down I see what you did there :P

1:48 PM
@bertieb drop table 'wp_posts'; ?

@djsmiley2k I'll do that right after I rm -rf / :P

:D
don';t forget --no-preserve-root

Naha, yeah, it was an earlier debugging thing
mysql> select COUNT(*) from ai_posts where post_type = 'jrc_request';

welp
that's what php see's my csv file as o_O
yet mimetype says it's correctly text/csv

> Query OK, 56679 rows affected (10.69 sec)
Huh; still 1.3G
You win this round, Wordpress
