Well just to say, and he can here this, initially he seamed frustrated and annoyed ..... only because I didn't understand exactly what he was saying or why. Before that I thought maybe he was too overly critical on a particular post. But I get over things pretty quick if not instantly and I am to old to take things personal. Yesterday was just a misunderstanding mostly on my part.

I am talking from the start two weeks ago

I personally don't get bent out of shape about anything and if I made a mistake I try to admit it. There's no need to save face in chat as I probably will never meet anyone here face to face even at some big digital geek convention.

I am under the impression that there is no such thing as a 1TB AF drive and that AF is are only for larger 4TB drives .... and maybe 3TB possibly

Info I found state that per IDEMA that all HD manufacturers agreed to switch to advanced format drives by 2011 but on using fsultil in cmd it tells e my HD's I recently purchased all have 512 sectors.

I didn't know they are all AF now since I remember reading an article some time ago dated 2013 that made it sound like they were still being sold.

I just like to now how my stuff works. I am assuming again that they are 512e 4k since they report to the OS 512. My only question is what is the point of that if all OS's to handle 4k

512n is basically the legacy sector format. 512-byte physical sectors.

Because 512-byte sectors are positively tiny given today's multi-terabyte drives, it's a heck of a lot easier for a media defect to cause uncorrectable errors. This impedes the development of larger drives. 4K physical sectors allow for more powerful ECC, compensating for this trend. To maintain compatibility, most of these drives emulate a 512-byte sector format; however, misaligned writes or writes to parts of a sector will cause degraded performance.

I just found a 128 MB USB key. Been trying 5 minutes to figure out why my partitioning tools show fucked up information. Turns out, no, the key is actually that old
