then if the NSA ever used that information, the foreign security agency would know it must have been kept illegally.

@enigmaticPhysicist for all the good that does them
@enigmaticPhysicist the CIA does illegal things all the time.
abroad, yes.

:\
bit of an uproar over the ASIO/ASIS here right now, actually
I'm not saying they wouldn't do it.
19:01
telling the NSA to caesum spying is like telling a dog to stop weeing on a fire hydrant
No, not just abroad.
Bob
Bob
(that's the Aus equivalent of the FBI/CIA)
I'm saying it is possible in principle to know if they do.
Bob

@enigmaticPhysicist pretty sure they've spiked a water supply or five in the US
amongst other things
@enigmaticPhysicist And, by the way, they did review/audit the data collection that the NSA was doing, and found over 700 violations (contractors spying on Ex's, etc.).

@DarthAndroid Well, I do believe a certain three-letter agency is listening to everything, everywhere. But the mere mocking suggestion that a certain public person might hipotethically enjoy non-orthodox activities be enough to trigger a visit from a crew from said organization... Do they have all the time and staff? Are we so important?
The NSA somehow managed to violate the already overly permissive data collection laws
@JourneymanGeek what is your relationship to fire hydrants? ;)
look I'm not disagreeing with you.
And... they got a slap on the wrist (not even...) and then the FISA or whatever the oversight court is renewed the data collection laws.
@allquixotic that's mean! the dog goes to the bath like intelligent creatures do!
19:02
I'm just saying it is possible to find out what kind of information the NSA is gathering.
And therefore, with reform (substantial reform), it is possible in principle to curtail it quite a bit.
@enigmaticPhysicist so you think the RGS Group might succeed ultimately?
And therefore, with reform (substantial reform), it is possible in principle to curtail it quite a bit.
Now if only I could pool all my stars, I could start work on the 10 comments with more than 10 stars badge.
Though not without the help of a trusted foreign security agency...
you'd need several
Well, the german and british security agencies are in bed with the NSA, who did you have in mind?
19:04
@enigmaticPhysicist you'd also need proof that the "TFSA" wasn't actually in league with ours
yeah, you see that would be a problem.
@DarthAndroid that one is taking me forever :P
but if there were a whole bunch of such agencies all saying the US has information it shouldn't, then it could be done.
wait, I'm lying, I have it D: superuser.com/help/badges/105/outspoken
Wait, I have it too

lol
when did I get that? I don't think I've ever had a message reach 10 stars
OK, I've gotta go work on an assignment now. BTW this was my first time in the third space. I kind of like it.

silver; awarded once
Receive stars from at least ten different users for at least 10 different messages in chat
Each message is only counted once, and each user is only counted once. So it's not enough if one message is starred by nine people, and a tenth user stars nine other messages.
If you want to know, here's the precise definition: Consider the bipartite graph whose vertices are all your messages and all the users, and whose edges are the stars you received. So a user (vertex) and a message (vertex) are connected by an edge if and only if the given user has starred the gi

?????
how I got that medal?
19:16
@Braiam you've had at least 10 (messageid, userid) pairs where messageid X was starred by userid Y and neither X nor Y are used twice in the calculation
meaning, as soon as either X or Y is used in the calculation, it's removed from the pool

@allquixotic Where can I see screenshots?
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic well that's kinda the point :P
I suppose it could be even faster if you compiled it yourself with all instruction sets enabled

@allquixotic Much the same as any of my kind. Humans have notice boards, dogs have fire hydrants.
