@nhinkle Is that thing on the back the only ugly part?
@slhck the logo's all over the place, but that's the primary location
@nhinkle Remember my idea about a community wiki you suggested for the blog? About a contest for cable management and awesome computers, etc?
@nhinkle Bleh.. that sucks.
@Luke I thought it was going to be an overclocking contest? Something like that? But yeah.
Yeah. I could put my own sticker over it, but that's still tacky.
@nhinkle Can I invite you to a private chat room and throw some ideas about it to you?
21:01
And considering all the pain in the ass I've gone through with this, I should get something that isn't gross.
@Luke not right now, sorry. I'm at work and trying to figure out this laptop replacement issue right now. Make a new room, make it public, and invite some discourse! No need to keep it private, I don't think.
@nhinkle You should always try asking for something 'better'
* Public, sorry. I just didn't want to clog up this room
@Luke wonderful. Everyone, go help @Luke.
@IvoFlipse fair enough.
:)
OK. going to call them and try my luck
thanks guys
21:25
@soandos shhhhhhh... :P
@nhinkle, sigh :)
Any idea when community review will be back on ine?
So @Ivo I called and they seemed kind of confused when I asked for a nicer one. He said he'll look into getting that replacement and will let me know by Friday >_>
@soandos if you become a mod then you'll probably know more about these things... I'm assuming
@Kronos, I can only hope :)
@soandos then again, you may not want to know everything that the mods know... :P
21:28
@nhinkle Just tell them you find it very very ugly
LOL. Well we're off the phone now, but if I do have to discuss with them again, I'll make that point, too.
"All my friends would think it was hideous and would never buy an HP laptop if they saw it!"
@KronoS was it you who spam-flagged all those posts for the Chrome plugin thingy?
21:33
@nhinkle yes
:p
Well he's 534 rep in the hole from all the spam flags now.
@nhinkle lol.. well I don't think that he was really planning on doing anything recently anways
Also found some possible sock puppets... looking into it
LOL I show up on the "suspicious voting report" because I voted on his posts as spam so many times.
@nhinkle LOL!
@nhinkle Oooo... do tell, if you don't mind.
@nhinkle They're not from Indonesia, I guess? :P
21:36
@KronoS can't really say anything more about it, sorry.
So when am I getting back my new review-beta page?!?
@IvoFlipse I KNOW!!!!
21:47
Ugggg... Arizona gets sooo hot
@KronoS Heh. I'm so glad I only got to go there in January
@slhck you vacation here?
@KronoS No, I was there for conferences, in 2009 and this year
@slhck ah... makes sense
Met a couple of nice people though, so I'll come back eventually for vacation and just drive around and do whatever
21:53
@slhck It's a great place... when it's not so freakin hot
and if you head north towards flag it's not so bad actually
@KronoS Yeah, next time I'm there I'll try and go hiking or to Flagstaff and then drive up to the Rockies
@slhck the rockies is a lot of fun to drive through

A: Can you actually Wash a laptop?

NecroI have a $1400 laptop so, common sense would say not to risk it. BUT . . . once a month, I remove the battery and the memory and toss it in the dishwasher without soap. After the wash, I set it on it's cooling fan base, set up a hair dryer to blow into it, and let it sit for 2 hours. Pop the memo...

I love the comment:
if this is true, you are crazy — Magnetic_dud Nov 25 '10 at 9:01
@KronoS A friend of mine went there in January and got stuck in a snow storm
@slhck that's common that time of year
They said it was a hell of an experience :P
22:00
My parent live in CO so we go up there at least 2-3 times a year
@slhck no pun intended right ;)
Pun? What? Where? :)
@KronoS da fuq
Skip to youtube.com/… for the fun part
will do later
Oh, work. Forgot, sorry.
@KronoS Yup. I can't remember where, but I saw an article explaining why EVERY other web browser, except Safari, would be slow on the iOS by design... Wish I remembered where it was
It's not that slow though. I switched to Chrome from Safari and I didn't notice any performance issues really.
22:40
Anyone know how to save open tabs in chrome so they will sync across machines?
23:02
@soandos Look in chrome://flags, I think I remember it's one of the flags there.
@TomWijsman, I set it to sync open tabs, but it didn't
Annoying, but whatever
On both machines?
Guess you need to wait until the developers work out that feauture more.
Yeah, I guess
23:04
@soandos: You're on stable though, right? Trying dev or nightly is another option...
It seems to add a "other devices" on the home / new tab page.
Dunno whether you can click on the name and get all the tabs, or whether clicking on one of the tabs will open all tabs for you. But I guess accessing a tab instead of not knowing where you was is already a huge benefit.
@TomWijsman, thanks, I just saw the otpion, its unobtrusive
screen shotting it now:
There was an error running gnome-screenshot:

Failed to execute child process "gnome-screenshot" (No such file or directory)
Still need to fix this on my Gentoo Linux.
Seems en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Screenshot is a good start.
> Fix me: Please update this section if you know how to configure shortcuts in Gnome.
Saw it, looks good.
@TomWijsman, yeah, just forgot to edit out my e-mail address (and that contained name)
23:13
@soandos: What about the other e-mail address?
@TomWijsman, in the previous pictures, my google account was showing
Now that I've seen your full name, I'm wondering where your nick comes from.
pretty boring actually
so and so
swap last two letters (soandso was taken in many places)
I use it all over the place
@TomWijsman, I wonder how you picked yours ;)
Ah, a true "whatever" nick handle. :D
TomWij in short, just decided to take three letters of each and use that so I don't have to type out full name or anything.
I've never actually used an anonymous handle.
huh. At this point, I can't possibly change over all of the accounts I have
Just going to stick with soandos (I am not aware of anyone else on the net with that handle)
Or at least (other than some travel company) I dominate the google results ;)
23:20
My handle is safe in overall too, apart from someone who ripped my YouTube. :(
So in that case I've added a X at the end.
Thats annoying
I think I just got lucky when I picked soandos 10 years ago
Hmm, I'm wondering why you still have that deleted comment thread in your bookmarks.
@TomWijsman, what do you mean?
This one, am also wondering what the text under the black from me was. :D
Glad they got rid of that system, a lot of people were a bit focused on it... :)
@TomWijsman, I always meant to look back at then when I hit 10k (so I could see the whole thing), but now just happy its over
dinner time :)
23:29
Where did the user go? ;)
@soandos: Ah, I understand what has been blacked out, good thing. :)
That's cool, has a pool of VMs and can launch of a malicious executable in a free VM from his pool and get a full sample check + analysis + report back from it.
So it becomes as simple as runing a single command to automate the whole process one would take to get information about executable and be presented with a nice report.

Q: How do I create a data validation list WITHOUT using cells?

KronoSI have a simple data validation dropdown that I'm trying to do, but I DO NOT WANT to use cells to populate my list. Something similar to what's below, but this obviously isn't working. What formula do I need to input to create a list of strings in a cell?
