I am currently setting up a new Debian (6.0.5) server. I put Cacti (0.8.7g) on it yesterday and have been battling with it ever since.
Initial issue
The initial issue I was observing, was that my graphs weren't updating. So I checked my cacti.log and found this concerning message:

While doing a backup I have found out the existence of an account called UpdatusUser on my Windows 7 box.
It doesn't appear in the account management section of the control panel.
Searching on the web it appears to be related to some Nvidia driver.
What is the purpose of this account?

I am having a byatch of a time getting up'n'running with python on A2hosting using fcgi... is there a good book that talks about python for shared hosting environments? I have ssh access, I have installed python 2.6, and using a shebang i can get it working with regular old cgi, but add fcgi into the mix, and I am lost

I set up a VPN server, I can't connect from my home address, but, if I VPN to my office, I can then VPN to the server... it is as if my address is blocked - but - I haven't done anything funky and, I can access web sites and stuff hosted on the same IP just fine
I am trying to keep the icons size and position to the place where I've shutdown my computer.
That is:
Keep desktop icons to the right and at a small size.
When I restart my computer, the get a medium size and are all aligned to the left.
Note:
Align icons on grid UNCHECKED

Just today, Sat June 30th - starting soon after the start of the day GMT. We've had a handful of blades in different datacentres as managed by different teams all go dark - not responding to pings, screen blank.
They're all running Debian Squeeze - with everything from stock kernel to custom 3....
I did investigate a bit further and realized the closing of the connection to the database is intentional. The connection should be reestablished for the next polling run. But it isn't.
Here's an excerpt from poller.php:

I've got a new rack cabinet with a wooden desktop and glass door. It's lined with acoustic insulation and has a fan at the top. I'm really pleased with it, but I just realised that my 4U and 2U cases are too deep for it, by around 50mm. Gutted.
@OliverSalzburg dunno, one day I randomly decided to disable showing icons, and my desktop looked clean. Plus I never clicked on them, I'd generally hit Winkey & type some app name, so I outgrew them
which is one of the main reasons why I love Unity. Same workflow.
