to be honest, there were several i wanted to use on the main site, but it's hard to settle on one, and unfortunately i could only use one.
as you know, Meta site theme is more or less a desaturated version of the main site. but sometimes I do special stuff on Meta, for things I wanted to do on the main site but can't.
^ that's the footer image i'm using on meta. (meta is black/white)
@El'endiaStarman i wanted to use photos to reflect the beauty of nature, and to give a calming feeling. I think ocean is a good one to use. Also, this particular photo has foot prints on it
it subtlety gives a nod to the "Footprints in the Sand" poem.
trying to write something coherent about B&CG design is hard. Their spectrum is super broad...Go -> Chess -> Playing cards -> Monopoly -> Katan -> MT:G -> Dominion...
@Jin yes. I gave an answer on the B&CG thread, not sure if it's worth anything, but my early card game experience largely came from sitting in front of a Hoyle card games manual
@Jin I feel this pain. I don't to design, but it's the same story with our web app
because in my experience, it takes some people some time to get used to the new look. but I'll make design tweaks if the community feels strongly about certain parts.
the good thing about our design process is that, the site can be constantly updated, both backend programming or front end design. so it's not a "launch 'n forget" type of thing :)
As you can see the new design just went live, which means this site has been officially launched! Congratulations! Thank you for being an awesome community!
If you're still seeing the old favicons, please load the following urls and do a hard browser refresh.

@waxeagle i debated on if i should change the badge icon(fish), i couldn't come up with a better alternative. i think the simplistic shape of the fish fits that small size well.
@Jin I think I agree. Overall a good job on a nigh impossible task :). I think this will grow on us quite nicely even if it's not exactly what we want.
@waxeagle i'm always open to change design details of course. I think after using the new site for a week, you'll have a better idea on what you really like and what really doesn't work out.
