Hey guys, if you don't have 1000 rep by the time we go to public beta tomorrow you will lose your free for all edit privs...Just a friendly service announcement
@Purmou depends on how much traffic we get and maintain. The sites I frequent here have very little traffic. This site is actually averaging more visits than people signed up for the beta
@ElendiaStarman should be essentially an incremental update to 7. It will change some things, but I don't think they are planning anything drastic for a while
@ElendiaStarman I'm not really sure about that. Windows ME was arguably the same thing. It will be intersting to see how many folks are using 7 when 8 comes out and how many folks are willing to switch. Note how many folks still use XP
I use XP for games. I use Vista when I have to test rendering in a version of IE that won't isntall in XP. Which happens about once every... well... it's happened once.
@ElendiaStarman it was a good system and by the time SP2 came out it was as the best Windows system that had been released and remained so until 7 came out
I'm glad my "weird" questions (about UFOs and ET life) are being respected... not because I really care about the answer, but because I expect we'll get a lot of weird questions in the future, and I think it's good to accept them.
@ElendiaStarman yeah, but tons of folks are still on XP. Companies are slowly switching, but some folks are still using things that require XP (though some nice compatibility stuff is available in 7...). We have some folks in our company that regularly access a website that REQUIRES IE 6...
@ElendiaStarman yeah its a document management system for one of our clients. We actually worked out a nice workaround where we install a plugin to change the UA string in the browser so its broadcasts as IE6 instead of 8 or 9
Ah... I've seen several banking sites that do that... for a long time I had to hack my UA string so that I could log into my bank site... because it didn't like Iceweasel... only Firefox
But I may go back for some other degree at some point... if I do, I'll try to test out of a bunch of stuff, because I love to read and teach myself a lot anyway... I could probably take the CLEP test to skip a bunch of classes... on Spanish and biology... and many other things.
There are certainly some things that are hard to learn on your own... but in my experience, programming isn't one of those things.
I love the job I have now, though... I get to work from home, which has allowed me to move to Mexico... I've been here over a year now, learning Spanish, making new friends, and learning a new culture
@Purmou Hilarious language problem. Reproduce can have more than one meaning but replicate is definitively the wrong one in the context of programming and bugs. I don't think I've ever even noticed how bizarre that lingo must e to non programmers.
@Purmou Isn't that just a trifle backwards? Shouldn't you have based your opinion about whether healing somebody would go against God's nature based on knowledge of what he says in his Word rather than having an idea in your head that you are trying to prove and searching through Scripture for something to fit?
