Q: Actual office politics about recent politics

BazookaJoeBubbleGumIn my small office of 15 people, all are Trump supporters and I am a lone Biden supporter. Previously, somebody reported me to HR for an incident based on a political argument I had with somebody in the office. The whole thing was stupid; I got a warning, and I apologized. With the recent electi...

Whos trump biden? Sounds like a card game
I wish it was a card game, then I can just go to sleep.
They will be back once the election is settled.
Normally if everyone disappears it could be the zombie apocalypse is starting.... 9 times out of ten
Do you (or should you) have any concern about your own physical safety in these circumstances? Throwing office equipment and going AWOL are not behaviors I associate with people who are managing their emotions well. Please consider your physical safety.

Does their absence block you from doing your job?
Who is going to get the flak if these 'big projects' aren't delivered? You or someone who walked out?
The advice to "look for a new job" is so common here, and yet somehow not when colleagues throw keyboards and disappear en masse?
@Mark I think it's premature. Sure, it's unprofessional behaviour but it's likely it's only going to be a couple of days. I would try to enjoy the weekend and see whether the others want to mend fences next week.
Is this posting a joke?
Document the situation. Film the empty office with a wall clock in view. Find somebody to report the situation to ASAP; you don't have to open with the reason, but the fact that the office is abandoned should be reported.

@Kilisi Whos trump biden? Sounds like a card game Oh man! :D
Sounds like some emotionally unstable coworkers, they should probably seek the assistance of a mental health professional.
"I'm considering calling HR and asking them what's going on, but I don't want it to seem like I'm antagonizing some grieving Trump supporters." No election-result, super-bowl outcome or similar should be a reason for people not doing their work for which they get paid. That's highly unprofessional and should get them fired - so inform HR and start looking for a new job - your current one seems like a hostile environment..
Looking onto the US election as a european outsider, there are two things I probably will never grasp: a) how people could get so worked up on an election; and b) how on earth can people still support Trump?

As you're probably already aware after your recent encounter with HR, bringing politics into the workplace won't do you any good. No need to share your political views with anybody in the office, no need to watch the election results on a Zoom call with your coworkers.
