@Deusovi Are you free? I need a bit of help with math
sure
We're dealing with parametric equations, and I'm kind of confused on how to eliminate the parameter in certain scenarios
can't promise a lot because i'm working on my own homework but i can try to help
Like for example
@Deusovi Oh, I can come back later. I have other stuff I can work on
nah i'll be busy all day - this is probably the best time
18:36
Oh, okay
So the equation is x=4t^2, y=8t^3. They're asking me to eliminate the parameter, but I feel like I'm doing it wrong
go on?
So, I was able to simplify it down to sqrt(x)=∛(y)
Because √(x)/2=t, ∛(y)/2=t, so √(x)=∛(y)
But the answer was x^3=y^2
you've run into a problem with √x - you assumed that t was positive
but if you wrote ±√x = ³√y, that would be correct and equivalent to the answer they gave
Oh... but how do you get to x^3=y^2?
raise both sides to the 6th power

Ohhhhh
Duh
I forgot my exponent rules
Okay, thank you!
(I shall cease to bother thee from thine homework now :P)
no problem!
