OK: 3 different numbers add up to not more than 93. The second number is 2 times the third, and the first is 8 more than the second. What are the numbers?

So, the way you can solve this is with algebra. You have three unknown numbers, and we can call them A, B and C. You know the second number is 2 times the third, which means 2B = C. And you know they add up to 93, so A + B + C = 93. Finally, you know the first is 8 more than the second, so A + 8 = B.

Okay, so you have to set up a system of equations, I think.

2B = C
A + B + C = 93
A + 8 = B
You can solve by substitution.

A+(A+8)+2(A+8)=93

Combine like terms and solve :)

From there, you can solve for B, and then for C.
