So... I have a tendency to explain jokes. Quite often, I do in fact realize that a joke is a joke but I go ahead and explain it anyway with the knowledge that doing so is potentially disruptive.
When a humorous discussion is in progress, most will stick with the joke but I've acted to effectively derail the discussion by explaining and ruining the joke.
It's not the first time this has happened, and although it's a rather minor issue, I'm concerned it might make me look like a spoilsport or even a troll.
