Persistent spam :\

Where are the mods when you need them?
I have eight pending not-an-answer flags right now.
Somebody destroy this:

Also had to protect four questions in the last two hours.

@DragonLord: I saw that. Its a shitty answer, not spam IMO
Also, I do need to sleep ;p
DragonLord
@JourneymanGeek The way it's written looks a heck of a lot like spam.
It specifies a product and a vendor, both in boldface.
Journeyman Geek
Yup, but I don't think amazon is in the business of spamming
and the part in question might be an answer.
DragonLord
I suspect it's some specific third-party vendor on Amazon the user is trying to advertise.
The vendor isn't specified to evade detection.
Journeyman Geek
If I'd posted a similar answer, I'd have included a picture.
Which means you'd find
anyone
who listed such an item
spam means there's actual attempts at advertising
DragonLord
The answer is low quality in any case and should be deleted or converted to a comment.

deleted, but spam flags rejected since there's a broader concequence to spam flags
DragonLord
You have much more experience than I do. I don't quite think I'm qualified to get the diamond :\
I know there's no election right now, but this calls into question my experience (or lack thereof) and handling of borderline situations.
I often fail to fully understand the consequences of certain actions, such as flagging as spam.
Then again, you've been on Super User for 18 months longer than I have been.
Any tips for handling borderline situations like this?
I just feel like I can't (or don't have enough experience) to make the right judgement calls.
Journeyman Geek
I don't really think about it.
Spam generally has the
overt
goal of driving traffic somewhere
DragonLord
The sad thing about this is that there's no substitute for experience.
There are some things you simply
cannot
learn without going through it yourself.
Some things are just not teachable.
I'm looking for ways to bridge the gap so that if and when I am elected, I can confidently do my job as a moderator.
Journeyman Geek
I didn't action on getting elected ;p
I tended to flag a bunch of spam cause it
annoyed me
DragonLord
I think it's only a matter of time and I need to be prepared to take the diamond if and when it comes to me.
Or is it because the mod tools offer that much more insight, enabling better decisions?
