@Run5k & @Biswapriyo, yeah, I lost 115 on SU and 300 networkwide. The claim is that it involved vote fraud, but I'm curious what that definition is. It appears that a lot of high-rep users were affected, and people who I know do high-quality posts, which implies that the votes were likely on worthy posts. If that's the case, what action constitutes vote fraud? If someone follows users they respect and upvote a lot of their posts, is that vote fraud?

Unfortunately we will never know.

A: Massive user removal in one night?

animusonThere's no such thing as a database cleanup that would affect reputation, because we don't automatically delete profiles that have voted. One or more users deleted their profiles, and there's really not anything further we can discuss about the topic for privacy reasons.

I just looked at the top 20 contributors for the year on SU. Only 3 were unaffected. A couple of others lost only minor amounts. But a lot of people took big hits. Several in the ~400 point range (a little bit proportional to total rep). So I don't feel quite so bad. But that means that someone did massive voting to affect that many people to that extent.

@fixer1234 Scripts and automated voting. That's about all we know.
