@JourneymanGeek I want to test something out in order to keep an MSE FAQ up to date, and I need your help as an SU mod to do it.
Especially you because you have an alt account

Erm... no?

@SamuelLiew It looks like the author there overrode an approval by reviewers, and you can't override that since it's already been overridden. But is it really true that mods can't override edits if they were reviewed (not overridden) by their authors? — Sonic the Inclusive Hedgehog 3 mins ago
@JourneymanGeek Out of curiosity, why not?
Never mind, they responded.

@gparyani cause I feel you have an unhealthy fascination with trying to fix all the FAQs and I don't want to feed it

@JourneymanGeek That particular FAQ led to a user actually being misguided, otherwise I wouldn't have asked.
Also, what do you mean "unhealthy"?

@gparyani You did mention OCD
And clearly this is causing you to alienate many people

@JourneymanGeek Keeping FAQs up to date alienates people?

No, bugging people to fill in the stuff you don't know does.
I mean, if you find something new yourself and update it its fine
I mean, you came all the way here, mentioned I have a alt account, and asked me to help

@JourneymanGeek The alternative option for something minor enough to not merit a question (but major enough to cause a user to get confused) is to ping a staff member.

Orrrrr, just leave it first
You don't have to fix everything

I added that section of the FAQ. I was unsure about that detail. I could have attempted to fill in the gap, but I answered to the best of my knowledge instead.

So, here's an amazing thing. I'm disinclined to help you here cause, well, I'm actually rather tired and popped on to find something that I wanted to add to one of my answers after my nap.

Now a user actually tripped in that gap. I think it's prudent to fill it in now.

Also, I don't think this behaviour is healthy and "the alternative option is to ping a staff member" is going to cause them to be disinclined to help you
its fine. If someone thinks its important and knows, they can fix it.
Also, please remember... this room is for folks to ask about super user moderation in particular

@JourneymanGeek I was asking for your help as an SU mod. I didn't want to move the conversation because I did that once and people got mad.
Quite frankly, I don't see what's wrong with having Aibobot suggest an edit to one of my posts, my reviewing it, and you as a mod attempting to override the outcome (to see if you can or not).
That said, the other party in the comment conversation above already tried it, so I don't need you to do it anymore.

@gparyani You're not getting the core of the problem though - You're literally demanding people take a look at things for you. To the point where, well things are stressful for people both professional (like shog and cat) and folks like me who choose to spend time doing these cause its fun
If you care about the community you absolutely need to be mindful about this and the effect you have.

Please let me preface this by saying that this is a relatively minor annoyance, but I was rather curious to hear the mods' perspective on this. Lately, a Super User community member who very recently reached the 2,000 reputation points plateau has initiated a steady stream of edits within the Meta realm on questions that are typically 16-20 months old.
Of course, this bumps all of them to the top of the Active page, although each edit will often be nothing more than adding one space to the web page title within the text of the question, like this one. Have we considered politely reaching out to the new editor and pointing out that the quality/quantity of those edits is just a bit superfluous?

4:40 PM
@Run5k I haven't seen the edits but I also noticed a bump- that is to say I read something near the top o the active list, got confused when I saw the date ('16 IIRC) and only realised after I saw the edit. If reaching out is possible I think it would be worthwhile to gently remind them of edit criteria :)

5:00 PM
@bertieb, if you scroll down through the Active list, you will see that this is happening almost every day. Again, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it but I was also curious whether or not "trivial edits" weren't quite as taboo in the Meta environment as they are within the primary Super User realm.

ehh.
I kinda think they are not really useful
@Mureinik ^^^^
Its worth remembering a lot of folks use/rely in the front page so a bunch of semi trivial edits, while possibly correct kinda make meta a little less useful for many

@JourneymanGeek @DavidPostill This user: superuser.com/users/107016/basile-starynkevitch is trolling us with NSA/CIA capabilities and now has brought politics into their answer.
The question should just be locked (IMO), the answers it has received, as "so-so" at best.

> It is irrelevant what the NSA or FBI can do today (my guess is that with the Trump administration, things are messy inside them; but that is not relevant here).

It is obviously political, and whoever is in the white house, would have similar policies anyways.
That is all I will say in the matter.
25 edits and counting.

@Ramhound Almost at end of shift. I think I'll let a more concious mod handle it

:thumbs up:

11:21 PM
The answer has received 33 edits so far.
