Q: ubuntuforums account banned... huh?

bcsteeveSo I was having trouble creating an account on the forums using my real email/ubuntu one account. I created a new ubuntu one account using a fake email, just so I could log in to the forum and get help with my real account. The admin completely misunderstood what I was asking, and not one but T...

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about issues with the Ubuntu Forums and not Ubuntu itself, or the Ask Ubuntu site. It does not belong here on Ask Ubuntu, or on Meta Ask Ubuntu. This needs to be resolved with the forums staff, through their Resolution Center and can only be handled there.
figures that I'd get an answer like that. Ubuntu... is that code for "not my problem"? How can I use their resolution center when I'm banned? Wait, don't answer that... off topic.
Email the forum council then, in any case it's offtopic here on this site. The other comment I made is a generic pro-forma comment I have lying around. You still need to be civil, and if you got banned for something on that site, then you broke the rules.
Yeah, I know... sorry, just frustrated. Not your fault, so I shouldn't have been... well, a dick.
Although... I suppose... I guess I don't need to bother with the forums with this site here? Sorry, I guess I got confused on the whole relationship. I thought ubuntuforums.org and askubuntu.com were both official support venues for ubuntu. I'm gathering now that one or both are not?
They both are used for support issues. Ubuntu Forums is run by the Forums Council, the Ask Ubuntu site is community run, on stack exchange, and the moderators are all volunteers. Ubuntu Forums actually has dedicated staff members. However, you can get "support" for issues in either place, however extended discussions on things are better suited for the forums, while specific "I have a question about a problem, i need an answer to fix it" is great here.

Lol... kind of sad really. The council is made up of 2 of the people that didn't answer my question and banned me for their not understanding it. How is that a process? This is insane. It was a simple issue... combined with a bug in their forum/account scripting... combined with a refusal to look at it... all rolled up into a power hungry setup. Wow, how's anyone get anywhere?
So now I no longer have the forum option available to me. And that's going to be problematic because this whole stackexchange thing has been something I've struggled with as well. What happens when you have a question, but you're so noob you don't even know what to ask? That doesn't work so well in a setup like this :(
Guess I'm just going to be lost in the cracks
Hi Elfy... come to ban me from here too? Or can we get past this nonsense?
that's the sort of thing that we ended up with in the forum - you obviously can post information in an understandable manner - you managed in the e-mail to us
It was understandable... you didn't understand it. There's a difference. Rather than asking for clarification, it was this constant insistence that I was whining about a username issue
your forum thread was not at all easy to understand - we tried to tell you - the issue wasn't actually at our end :) someone else will look at the mail - cya around
uh huh
"not my problem"
cheers mate. Thanks for looking into it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. etc etc

@Elfy perhaps I should have the chat mods talk to this person and tell them to be more civil.
i'm guessing he broke the rules because of being banned on UF, but meh
