@amWhy Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I already went to that page, but I still don't understand it.
@AlexanderGruber Thank you for recommending such a material, will definitely read it (well I read books and PDFs but I tend to read it for sure if they are typeset using the TeX engine)

Given the events this week on MO, I thought we'd try to find as many words of length four letters or more, from MODERATOR ELECTION. Perhaps we can decided whether or not to restrict words to five or more letters.

@amWhy theirs nothing demonic about me. ;-)

@quid I find it irresistible to tease you! ;D Of course it does not apply to you!! ;D
@quid Yikes!! I typed "their" instead of the correct "they're' (mumbles to self, jealous of mod's powers to edit their comments any time they choose to!!)

@amWhy :-)

@quid Did you note my response to Teresa's RE-ELECTION?
4 hours ago, by amWhy
@TeresaLisbon I pray that never happens with a former president of the US, whose last name is five letters, begins with T, and rhymes with DUMP!!
Perhaps I didn't offer enough in terms of "clues", @quid. ;D And that applies to the entire Royal Court of T*UMP s!
It's Friday, @quid! Do please indulge me, but if you'd prefer the ignore my comments which are minimally political, no problem!
Not sure, but it doesn't seem like DETRIMENT has been listed. Context: "It is to my DETRIMENT that I volunteer on this site!" ;D

@quid Oh, I thought we'd see the day when word searches overlap, like RATION, RATIO, IOTA etc. or TEAM, TAME, MEAT...

@quid Good!! (I just saw an opportunity to make a joke (err, another joke))
@quid, in case you missed the great fortune of our cafe/tavern, note this:
yesterday, by amWhy
@ParamanandSingh @Alexander gifted some more, plus a cow for the Cafe to have always available milk. He's even volunteered to keep the cow fed, get her out to graze freely, and clean up after her! He's our resident "cow boy"!

@amWhy I did not note that.

@quid You would not note that?? Or "You did not note that" or "You didn't notice that, or You had not noticed? I think I'm understanding, but given your ability to edit (WHILE CAN'T DO SO)... please choose the correct option and edit. ;P OOH... I'm becoming a pain in the butt here!

done

@quid My comment is moot, now. Kudos!
@quid I just saw this meta post, by Teresa: math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/33461/…. She makes some good points. It's been awhile since this has been addressed on meta math, from a user seeing the bigger picture, or asking a question, not based on personal gripes based on a question of theirs, or from an answerer to a specific question.
@quid, what do you think? there are likely good things about it, and perhaps some drawbacks, particularly depending on the group of users participating on meta. But I do not want to put you on the spot. If you have any input on the question I linked, feel free to comment, and/or answer, ditto for Xander and Alexander. (Can't I just use "Ale-Xander" to cover both?? ;D
Or "Ale-Xander Quid", so much time that would save me!! ;D
Sorry, @quid, I didn't know you needed to depart. No problem. I hope I didn't "scare you away" ;D

9:56 PM

@XanderHenderson Love it!!
@Xander What are your that's about pinging three of the best mods on this site via:
32 mins ago, by amWhy
Or "Ale-Xander Quid", so much time that would save me!! ;D

10:12 PM
@amWhy I thought you wanted the three best moderators?

Or, say, AleXander Quid ?

@XanderHenderson ;P
@XanderHenderson Records this to use at Halloween (trick), or next year's April Fools to change my username to AleXanderQuid!. Bookmarked
Or, I could simplify, and include @Asaf, to create AXQ
If there is a moderator with a name Edward, I could cover six mods with AXED! Seven with either PAXED, MAXED, or QAXED,
Or... RAXED... BETTER yet, eight with PRAXED Oh, enough!!
Actually, A covers three mods. D, two mods, X one mod, Q, one mod, P one mod, M one mod, and R one mod. I'll need to make this a challenge in this chat, @Xander, for an anagram of AAADDXQPMR. Tall order!!

@XanderHenderson Well we allow two or three separate words, that use all and only the characters in the given string! But thanks, that will help our resident anagrammars, save time by not seeking a single word anagram. See how many letters match @Paramanand
@Xander Just includes two n's, and lacks Q and X. I think that's a divine sign for our next election!!. Even your first name (username) includes 4 of the 10 letters above!!
@XanderHenderson That's a cool site, btw!
@Xander Any plans tonight? Some R&R perhaps?

@amWhy I still need to prepare a lecture for a training that I am supposed to participate in tomorrow.

But I remember that you've frequently held office hours around 5 pm, your time.
@XanderHenderson OMG, the same Saturday training that's eaten up your last few Saturdays?

Yes.
Also, what the hell am I supposed to say in 5 minutes?!
I am supposed to record a five minute lecture with slides. :\

@XanderHenderson OMG! That sounds like an impossible assignment! Will they allow the first five minutes of a typical lecture? Do they permit you to provide context: 5 minutes of a lecture, where students have previously covered x, y, and z, and will proceed, after five minutes of instruction, to learn a, b, c prior to the end of class?

10:43 PM
It is supposed to be a complete artifact, in 5 minutes.

Perhaps focus only on a geometrical "proof" or demonstration, of the Pythagorean Theorem (good for slides), or Pascal's Triangle....

I was thinking of a heuristic argument for the area of a circle.
It lets me make a corny joke.
Hey, @amWhy, what is the area of a circle?
(with radius r)

Yikes, I remember taking classes, after majoring in math, to get certified to teach highschool math. I never did, but class assignments were similar, it was like jumping through hoops.
@XanderHenderson (pi)r^2. ( Like baking a square pie to prove pies can be squared, with diameter r... just joking)

Pie are squared? No. Pie are round. Cornbread are square. Duh.

@XanderHenderson Hah! Good opener!!

10:50 PM
I told you it was a corny joke.

@XanderHenderson A good ole' Dad joke which are always corny! ;D
@XanderHenderson Are you thinking, e.g., of the topic discussed here, or here.
Of course it could be be another such heuristic. But I think with your lead in joke, your topic, with visuals, is a fine idea.

@amWhy Ha! No, nothing that deep.
Just a heuristic demonstration by dividing the circle into smaller and smaller wedges, and arranging them into an approxo-rectangle.

@XanderHenderson Yes, indeed, I've come across that! Good choice. When the audience consists of classmates across the disciplines, one need to "keep it somewhat simpler". I remember, in one of my aforementioned classes, in a 10 to 15 minute presentation required for the course, to my "peers" I focused on the rotation of a cube. People liked it, but it wasn't high school level. But it did prove very useful when teaching group theory to undergrads, and became more elaborate.

11:17 PM
@Xander one more question, I tagged this question as "contest-math" given they are trying to find f(2021). I asked them to edit their post to include the source of the question, they did not respond immediately, which doesn't indicate much. They used the tag "induction" but seem clueless as to prove by induction. Anyway, just heads up. No real need to intervene; perhaps some users can find it posted somewhere.
It is likely that the question emerged after a composition, and the OP wants to understand why their answer was incorrect. But still, the OP needs to provide the source of the question. Sigh... :(
