9 responses so far to my craigslist post about pouring the patio
so either everyone else's prices are high - or work is a bit slow this year and people are looking to score some extra money
@Aaron Ouch

new addition to my patio project? I still have my dual 1.8ghz G5 somewhere
12:28
@BMitch yeah go ahead
@waxeagle Thanks, sent
@BMitch we need small engine repair.se
or mechanics.se needs to have a small engine tag
@BMitch yeah, they didn't seem to want them :(
I've had several small engine questions the past few weeks and have had to put the answers together from forums
seems to be beneath them. :(
12:31
they are technically on topic on gardening..but
thankfully I managed to fix my issue
yeah, certainly out of the normal Gardening focus
There's a lot of difference in audience between growing roses and fixing the lawnmower.
@BMitch yes
lawn care is on topic so small engines technically are as well, but mowing your grass and fixing your mower are not the same thing
ok I started it
@waxeagle Haha, I was just searching through SE to make sure it didn't already exist, but glad you started it since I don't own a single gas device for yardwork, I'm all manual or electric.
@BMitch I've got three small engines and a host of questions because I'm not taking them to the shop. (my push mower and string trimmer are still under warrenty though)
ok, I've donated my 5 questions :)
all "problems I've actually faced" in the past few weeks :(
I advertised it on the meta question over on Mechanics.SE, and gave you a few +1's to questions. Hopefully it takes off.

@waxeagle I've followed the proposal, but realistically I think it should be rolled into Mechanics.
@Tester101 in theory yes, but do you take your mower to a car mechanic?
Mechanics is going to stay in beta forever, or get shut down if they don't stop restricting their scope so much.
@Tester101 nah, that traffic number will get them graduated before you know it
@waxeagle Yes. My father-in law helps me out whenever I get stuck on any engine.
I was surprised my ATV question did't get closed.

Q: How do I remove the front axle of a 93 Honda FourTrax 300?

Tester101I'm working to rejuvenate a 93 Honda FourTrax 300 4x4, that's been stored in a garage under piles of junk for the past 15 years. I've got it running, and have turned my attention to the torn left front outboard CV boot. I picked up a replacement boot, but to install it I have to remove the fr...

It would be interesting to see how many "civilians" are on SE sites. I think Shirlock is the only one.
@Tester101 you mean non-tech workers?
14:51
I'm betting that 90% of all SE users are SO users who found a different SE site to call home.
that number is coming down, but yeah
@ChrisCudmore SO users or trilogy users?
I'm not a SO "user"
@Aaron trilogy probably works well as it basically encapsulates the remaining SE 1.0 audience :)

looks good @ChrisCudmore
So far. The old pine was rotting out. I went PT. It won't finish as nicely, but it'll last.
And I hate trying to mitre outside corners. There's no play at all.

Need a recommendation for a good accurate stud finder.
I have a Zircon OneStep i65, can't find a stud through 1/2 drywall if I told it where the stud was.
@Tester101 have you tried an electric razor?
@waxeagle I've just been tapping, then probing with a finish nail.
@Tester101 I recommend stud finders with deep penetration capabilities.
wait, that sounds bad.
@BMitch This one supposedly has that.
@Tester101 You're not starting on top of a stud, I hope, and you're on drywall and not plaster, right?
19:54
Not starting on a stud (though if I did, the sensor is supposed to re -calibrate anyway). And yes, it's drywall not plaster and lath.
any water damage (soggy drywall), resilient channel, or anything else that would throw off the finder?
No. The finder just sucks, I think. I even changed the battery, thinking maybe it was dying.
I'll just keep rapping my knuckles, I guess.
just need to find one, right?
The finder does locate power lines rather well, maybe I'll just keep it around for that.
20:56
an electric razor?
You shave the stubble off the wall. It makes the stud easier to find.
