A few things we should do:
Clean up any dups on DIY.
Check for dups on Gardening.
Decide if drainage, french drains, and other runoff questions belong on DIY or Gardening.
Decide if ponds belong on DIY or Gardening.
I've reviewed the following tags:

I think the next step is to start making a reject list, I'll move those questions down to the bottom of the post and cross them out (just in case we want to change our mind)
I think I missed the studs based on how easily the drill moved through the drywall. My LCD only weighs 27lbs and the mount itself is 5lbs (rated to hold 165lbs, and uses 4 8mm lag bolts). I pulled as hard as I could downward on the tv and nothing moved at all, everything seems pretty sturdy. Sho...
arstechnica.com/business/2012/11/… now when someone calls for help why their internet is so slow, you can honestly say, its your magnetic hard drive thats the bottle neck
I'm not sure I understand drywall anchor ratings. Is that how much they can hold in drywall, or when the machine used to test their strength rips them apart?
also distance from the closet screw - i'd think the rip out force of the bolt in the drywall would be greater if close by a stud near a drywall screw then if it were in the field between 2 screws in 16 inch on center studs - to many variables
then again, the wife was adjusting drapes on a rod hung with the shitty plastic push in anchors, lost her balance, fell, grabbing on to the curtain rod and ripped it right out of the wall, scoring an awesome bruise on her thigh
These photos were taken through a small hole in the wall of a house. They are of the inside of the cavity. The hole they were taken through is at a height of about 60cm from the internal ground floor level. The left of the photos is the inside of the outer leaf of the external wall of the house.

@TheEvilGreebo Your search habits are questionable. When I do a google image search for "stud", there are no pictures of guys anywhere in the results. In fact, this is the first image in the list...
This is going to be more about protocol than actual DIY work. I own a condo that is part of an association. We have underground parking with assigned spots. I'm thinking about getting an electric car, which means I'll need to charge it over night. I'm considering installing a 220volt "Level 2" de...

Two rules with electric cars. 1.) Always lease an electric vehicle. 2.) Never buy a used electric vehicle, unless the battery has been replaced. See also 1..
"Like all batteries, the amount of energy that the high-voltage “propulsion” battery can store will decrease with time and miles driven. Depending on use, the battery may degrade as little as 10 percent to as much as 30 percent of capacity over the warranty period." Chevy warranty information.
sometimes in the morning in the winter, i go to turn on the prius and its like it doesn't fully turn on - then i have to hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off - 2nd time, starts just fine - random - could be cold and happens, could be cold and starts just fine
I'm not gonna lie. The early stages of my very first home improvement project completely smacks of novice DIY'er. I did so many things wrong that I've since learned from, but the first mistakes are still glaringly obvious, one of which being how I drove screws too far into drywall. Some do mor...
My past experiences have shown me not to countersink the screw too deep, just enough to create a dimple. The drywallers I hired to do my ceilings are driving the screws in at around 1/8". I posted a question here a few weeks back asking about the implications of driving screws too deep. Perhap...
And if I take my keys out of my pocket, then I know where they are. I heard a story about a guy who got stranded when he started the car, and the car started because the keys were in his wife's purse. Then he dropped her off.
@waxeagle biggest downside of drinking black coffee - now the quality of coffee is actually important. theres nothing to hide a shitty coffee when you drink it black
@ChrisCudmore lol yeah. I don't have to pack lunch, but getting a 4yr old wrangled clothed and out the door is a lot of work. I grind and press at work :)
@ChrisCudmore he looks good :). I can't imagine the tenseness of having a kiddo in the hospital for that long, we did 5 days in the NICU with our first and it was agonizing, I wouldn't want to do longer. Glad to hear that he's just on Oxygen now. Premie care has come a long way.
It was pretty tense for a while there. He came out at 25 wks, Just as my brother was loading the car to come visit for Christmas.
I went up to Ottawa twice that winter, once just to take care of them, and once to do a whole whack of necessary house repairs. 6 trips to Home Depot in one weekend.
We had to install a dedicated circuit for the Oxygen concentrator.
He should be off the O2 during the day tommorrow, after the appointment with the respirologist.
But on nighttime o2 until spring.
Apparently, it takes 2 years for a premie to catch up.
The news staff at CTV Ottawa bought them a parking pass for the hospital. Most thoughtful gift ever.
Yeah, he's doing well. Came down for Canadian Thanksgiving. He looked fine. He's developmentally where he should be based on his due date. But he's three months behind if you go by his actual birth date.
Which is to be expected. Lungs were the big issue.
And they were lucky. My Sister in law did a great job doing what mammals are known for. They had to buy an extra freezer to store it all.
@Aaron That's because they already downloaded all the music you'll likely have from the pirate bay, so they don't actually have to do anything other than send you the files.
i quit drinking coffee last year - took 2 days to get over the withdrawl - all day headaches - after 2 days i was fine - felt better, blah blah blah - then you realize how shitty gatorade tastes and how expensive that is - and i never cared for the taste of water so i digressed
@Aaron Same - we were looking at Keurig - $0.50/cup - and I did the math vs. $14/lb gourmet coffee - and after I showed my wife how our "expensive" coffee was $0.08/cup she stopped worrying about that extra $1.00/lb ;)
@Tester101 I am, and you, Sir, are a horrible cretin who is destroying wonderful wonderful coffee, and you should be tarred, feathered, and run out on a rail, you cretin!
For shame, Sir! FOR SHAME!!!
(lets see how else can I push this outrage over the top?...)
My bedroom has a very nice looking flush mounted ceiling light with a glass dome. However, all the bulbs have gone out and I cannot get the glass out to replace them. I'm 5'4" and standing on the bottom corner of my bed I can reach up with my arms fully extended and handle the glass, but I can't ...
@NiallC. Yup, I was happy when I found they have a mod tool to search for some commonalities, they've had 25 questions over the year: diy.stackexchange.com/users/6141/liantics
@BMitch Hah, I left a comment on one of their older answers about registering & not creating duplicate accounts... so you'll probably have to keep doing this. :)
@NiallC. I wish SE would autoflag when they found similar user accounts, gotta figure out how I can write that feature request without talking about stuff that cannot be talked about. :)
@Tester101 Well, a flag is just a hint for a mod to review, not an automatic merging process. And there are other ways, but I'm not supposed to talk about it. Anyway, I've got to make some more fliers for our local fight club. :)
My headphones' mic stand is flexible like this:
You can bend it anyway you like and it (sort of) keeps its shape.
What is it called?
Also, where can I get something like that of a larger size, or, how can I make one?
"Welcome to the site. Your question has nothing to do with Home Improvement, so I'm going to down vote it. I've commented as well, so you can direct your argumentative comments as to why you think this is on topic at somebody specific.".
@DA01 You can call it a community if you want but I'm still not sitting around the camp fire with you holding hands and singing Kum Bye Ya! — The Evil Greebo13 secs ago
During election season, I went on a political website and tried to pledge -10,000 hours to the campaign (that's what happens when you call me during dinner). Sadly, I'm guessing I wasn't the first one to modify their web form's drop-down options and it was rejected by the server.
