Q: What should we name the "bloopers" blog series?

Tester101So I guess it has been decided that we'll try to get a "bloopers" blog series started, but we're still missing one thing... A name for the series. The rules One entry per post. Names must be reasonably unique (we don't want the trademark or copyright lawyers showing up). The top voted name wi...

Since I caught shit the last time I asked and answered my own question. I'll let somebody else handle this one.

Q: How do I finish a ridge cap?

Tester101I've installed the ridge cap, using modified 3 tab shingles. I've installed the ridge cap all the way to the other end of the ridge, but I'm not quite sure what to do now. The next shingle will be hanging out over nothingness, how can I nail it down?

cut the shingle to fit the roof line and nail to the roof line
or, i've seen the last piece overlapped the one just before it if the nailing area is to small
ie: line it up with the edge of the roof and just nail it over the one before it
BUT - i have only seen roofing done - never did it myself
I've done it, but it was a while ago and they didn't let me help with the ridgecap
mostly I got to bang nails into shingles
Every thing I found on the web was to glue down a half shingle.
Who gave you shit for that? I believe it's encouraged in the faq.

The FAQ has contained one key bit of advice from the very beginning:

It’s also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, as long as you pretend you’re on Jeopardy! — phrase it in the form of a question.

So …

if you have a question that you already know the answer to

if you’d like to document it in public so others (including yourself) can find it later

it is OK to ask, and answer, your own question on a relevant Stack Exchange site.

To be crystal clear, it is not merely OK to ask and answer your own question, it is explicitly encouraged. …

@ChrisCudmore they've even given the functionality to make it easier to self answer

so i could in theory ask a shit ton of questions i know the answers to, answer them and up my rep? beats making blog posts that you get nothing for i guess haha
Well, look at it as building a database. Do we care where the data came from?
It'll look funny if you have 20 down votes on all your accepted answers.
yes, that would be funny
but my logic is infallible

it was a joke - Viki? from iRobot?
@lsiunsuex been ages
Siri should have been named Viki
companies never do cool shit like that
@lsiunsuex licenses :(

Welcome to Project Update Thursday

hola!
not doing shit this weekend other than packing for vacation
BUT, my wife's sister and boyfriend are coming in town so maybe i'll have him do some electrical work - why must I always have working vacations? i think its someone else's turn to feel my pain
"Welcome, feel free to treat this place like your home, and by that I mean: here's the paint, and make sure all your work is up to code."
That's one way to keep the relatives from visiting
hes going to school for chemical engineering - which probably means he doesn't know how to program a tv
I don't think they used many right angles building these. And from the outside, they look like the droppings of a really large bear. toxel.com/tech/2012/08/27/modern-backyard-office
that's cool
been thinking about turning the detached garage into my office
i dont park in there... could use the extra space.
I'm looking forward to having a place with a garage some day
it will be nice to not worry during every hail storm, or from neighbors dinging my doors
19:30
we only got hit bad once in recent memory
my parents jeep liberty scored about 30 dents
i was 2 towns over in my nissan murano and the storm just missed me
One of my first cars got nailed with some quarter size hail and dinged it all over. I was 20 minutes from the family and they only got one or two small dings. Ever since I've been paranoid when I see it start up again, but (knock on wood) it's never left a mark since.
Garages are for tools! Not cars (unless you're working on them), or offices, or anything else.
That's why I want to 2 "car" garage. One for my car, the other for my tools, toys, etc.
And, it's not a "Man Cave"!
If you call your garage (or any other space) a "man cave", your "man card" should automatically be revoked!
How do you like those apples, Nancy?
So what do you call the one room of the house that your wife allows you to (kinda) control?
I notice they don't call any other space a Woman Cave, probably because caves don't consist of an entire house.

@BMitch The Garage.
20:03
@BMitch my office (and/or pool access)
@BMitch no they typically get a "craft room" or "sewing room" but those are probably both anti-feminist
@waxeagle Don't forget "the kitchen", "the dining room", "the living room", "the bathroom", "the bedroom", "the guest room", and "the nursery"
:)

I don't think @lsiunsuex has said anything to warrant a star today.
