Is there a word for "I bought a tool I don't need right now, but I know it would have been helpful in a past-job, and I might need to do that job again, maybe"
pragmatism? feathering one's toolbox ? spend-o-mania ? Common sense?
Rationalising the decision to buy stuff ?
Specifically some Gordon brand BA ring spanners... I needed a BA2 for a part in my landrover, and couldn't find one at the time. I got some $2 27/64" socket which had sloppy tolerances and was just enough, but the proper spanner came up lately on an auction, so I bough tit.
