This is a great question

Q: Can Rhino lining be used for a residential roof?

TreyIs Rhino® lining a viable option for a residential roof? I know for many people it is cost prohibitive, are there any regulations concerning polyurethane coatings on a roof? Has this been done before?

I'm tempted to send an email to Rhino.

Had a long conversation with my 6 year old son last night about the difference between Cement, Concrete, Mortar and Grout. He also learned how to say "Aggregates"
//Proud Father!
15:31
ooh, never seen a drill with a shop vac attachment...perfect for drywall installing. And much apreciated since they are putting it up 15 feet from where I stand...
Cool. Useful when doing "live" office jobs.
15:51
@ChrisCudmore yeah, that's the case with this one. We're still working and they're building a wall...(among 100 other things)
16:19
@ChrisCudmore That might make an interesting blog post.
actually I'm wrong, no vac on the drill....I'm just confused
16:50
@Tester101 I'll ask my son to write it.

1 hour later…
18:18
How come posts I edit in review keep getting bumped to the top?
@ChrisCudmore all edits bump
18:31
Aug 1 at 17:03, by Aarthi
all edits must bump :(
Well, If @Aarthi says so, then it must be so. I'm not going to try and overthrow the queen.
19:10
meh, the queen has been ignoring her subjects lately
I'll page her: @Aarthi
Damnit. The queen is dead. Up The Republic!
@ChrisCudmore You want me to superping her? She's around, but she's just ignoring us
i didn't even hear you guys
:(
There's my little pony!
aww?
19:13
Why do all edits need to bump?
@Aarthi that's what happens when you don't visit, heck, on the last PUT people actually updated us on their projects
no disco ball needed
@ChrisCudmore Because that's what the sproc says to do.
TPTB accept no queenly pleas
We need a SAGE field in the edit page.
@ChrisCudmore even Aarthi doesn't have the power to bypass that
19:19
@BMitch yeah the only non-bumping edits were the CHAOS title edits and that caused some commotion
Since she's less chaotic these days, that power is gone
@BMitch yeah, and CHAOS doesn't even have the power anymore, it was a limited time deal
I'm not sure I see the value in bumping. It will actually deter people from cleaning up.
well, it's so that edited questions get attention
new votes, new answers, etc
It would be a nice feature for users with high rep, click button to not bump
19:22
and, perhaps more importantly, a review of the edit
@Aarthi also reviewed to make sure that edit is legit...
Yes, but a 2 year old question that has been cleaned for spelling and grammar shouldn't be bumped.
@ChrisCudmore I think it's caused by the way the system was designed. Each answer, question, comment, edit, etc. is an event. But because the system gathers things as questions, when you view the most recent events you get the questions that are associated with the event.
@BMitch no review, you could be destroying content and stuff for years and no one would notice
@waxeagle That makes sense actually.
19:23
@waxeagle put another tab on the review page, but like I say, high rep users, we don't want a new user causing chaos
Is superping different than just @ someone in chat?
Well, it's obviously more Super than a regular ping.
@Aaron more power!
@Aaron mod power!

19:30
basically if @BMitch or @Tester101 or @chrisf types in @@19082 I'll get the ping no matter what happens
I'll get a huge banner thing saying they pinged me in here too
@@@ will send the police to your door.
@ChrisCudmore knock knock
Who's there?
The police, you know, you called us? Wow, short term memory loss.
19:36
daaaaaaaaang
I'm not sure what you mean by 'no matter what happens' , though
@BMitch The police, you know, you called us? Wow, short term memory loss. Who?
I guess you can only usually ping people that have been in chat
@Aaron SuperPing finds you wherever you are.
But normal ping is limited to people who don't abandon you for better chat rooms

Q: Could we have the ability to mark a change as minor in questions or answers?

Pascal ThiventIt would be nice to allow users to mark a change in an answer (or question) as minor (e.g. for a simple spelling or grammar correction). A change marked as minor wouldn't push the question on top of the list of questions on the home page or in the feeds. It wouldn't trigger any notification. This...

The floating head dropped by with the answer!
@BMitch :(
@Tester101 he sort of does that
he does that a LOT and also this room turned really blue
I feel left out
19:41
@Aarthi hey, I've been here the whole time :P
Heh.
But Poor Aaron, the only unblue :(
Just me and @ChrisCudmore
well and greebo and tim
Oh my, I didn't realize that @AnnaLear with her goat pic had dropped in, that is a lot of blue
19:48
Moderators.
Look at the names on the left of chat.
ACK! PBTTTTT! Runs away
We peasants don't get fancy colours.
Evil, we hates them, we hates them precious!
If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.
If you have nothing to hide, then others should probably cover their eyes
19:50
@TheEvilGreebo :(
@Aarthi All of them but you of course
I kinda miss being normal, being blue isn't all it's cracked up to be.
@BMitch Do not let my awesomeness scare you. Gaze upon me with confidence. Gaze upon me with adoration!
@TheEvilGreebo hugs
@BMitch it kinda skews your view of the sites, doesn't it? i forget what it looked like before
At 3K rep, I got access to all the mod privileges I need.
19:54
I miss being able to vote to close something without it being binding.
Now I can't hide behind the group for cover
@BMitch Can you shed the mod hat temporarily?
@BMitch yeah, I just had a user petition in chat to reopen something our community closed. i disagree with the closure, but I'm not going to override 5 community close votes in a single click (it's borderline).
@ChrisCudmore They permanently bolt it on, it's a bit painful but you get used to it
sleeping with the screws in is the hardest part shakes head
That's because Joel and Jeff are Windows guys.
19:56
@Aarthi yeah you don't just get to VTC normally anywhere
@Aarthi I always thought sleeping and screws were a great combination, but now I know better
If the were unix guys they'd have made you SUDO into the mod tools.
@waxeagle Isn't that when you ask on Meta?
@Tester101 I sent him to meta
@waxeagle it's a little sad, but I usually flag for you guys and run wander away, if i feel something should be closed

Q: Should we add a recurring "bloopers" post to the blog?

Tester101I've been thinking of ways to continually add content to the blog, and the most recent idea is to have a recurring series of posts detailing DIY "bloopers". The general idea is for users to submit "mistakes" they've made while improving their homes, and posting 5-10 of them in a monthly/bi-month...

ooo
i like that idea
brb voting up
What happens if a moderator flags something? Can they handle their own flags?
I dunno how well that would work out if people didn't take pictures
@Tester101 yup
@Aaron If we found an artistic type, they may be able to provide "reenactment" pictures.
20:14
/me runs away
@Tester101 You can, but you don't get the helpful credit
And some flags go directly to the action, it's a bit confusing
Such as migrating a post by raising a flag to say it should be migrated
@Tester101 like the ones they re-create on investigation discovery
?
I always wonder if people see the actor playing the part of the killer, and call in tips on them to the police
@Aarthi If we are able to do this, we may need some pencils, stickers, and other stuff.
@Aaron We had that happen in Toronto.
One of the local stations used the same actors over and over again for the TIPS segment of the show.
@Tester101 i can commit to that.
20:19
And it got to the point that one of them kept on getting the cops on him.
@Aaron It doesn't have to be real people.
Speaking of re-enactment, this toilet valve is driving me crazy
See, this guy forgot to put the trap back together.
I'm trying to re-seal the gasket on the drain pipe and and I can't get the water to completely shut off to the tank
@Aarthi enough with the marriage talk, unless you're going to tell everyone the news. ;oP
20:21
shhh
Turn off the water to the house. Or find an intermediate shut off somewhere.
I got a new flapper, and it came with a plastic seat that goes on the valve seat, but for the life of me I cannot get the flapper-plastic seat-valve seat combo to not leak, no matter how much silicone I put on the plastic seat
Or disconnect the water line, and let it leak into a bucket.
@ChrisCudmore, well, it shuts off, but then I leave it overnight, and there's 1/2" of water in the tank
20:23
@Tester101 I held the bucket under the hot water shutoff while the repair guy replaced a dishwasher once, not a big deal
just make sure you have two buckets to swap out when one fills
At what point do you give up and buy a new toilet?
@ChrisCudmore When the bowl cracks.
I wonder if this thing is missing a piece
I can get a toilet for under 100 bucks.
@Tester101 ding, we have a winner, also accepted would be if you want a more efficient model
20:26
There's a certain amount of labour on repair where it's just more worthwhile to replace.
Concentric float valve, that's what I have in this one
If I was a plumber I'd never be able to tell a customer I had to fix their ballcock, without laughing.
You can always tell the professionals in the room. They're the ones that can say: "Pass me that caulk" without snickering.
I think there's an Adam Sandler routine about caulk and colors, etc
