that is like overkill. its not necessary to describe in such detail.
shorter is usually better. imagine it being read to you. would you look over it that whole time it took to be read?

I considered asking about that. but it doesnt change the issue, its still images that arent described for screen reading software
as of yet i havent heard anyone complain that that use a screen reader and they cant tell what an image is.

In that post you described the images fine. In which case the alt description isnt neceassry. i wondered why the link was placed there.. and i questioned the use of imagery that named something as 'stock photography'
yeah the difference, is I'm not blind, so I'd look at the photo and never need the alt text. So its really hard to put onesself in that place and imagine what the most useful info is.
If you can't see an item, and you can't explore it by touch, then a description is all that's left.
instead of he image source as he alt text, a description like "reinforced metal plate affixed to brick wall with threaded rod and hexnut" or "decorative iron plate shaped like a gear affixed to wall... .. rod and hexnut
well often it is not overly important to describe something in great detail, unless specifically asked.
