@GWarner So what you're saying is that identification questions are typically crap? Please don't legitimize them by adding an [identification] tag.

I just got rid of the [unidentifiable] tag because it was only used for that type of question.

A long time ago in a chat room far far away, I said this, and still stand by it:

Fair points. How much text is needed? I'd guess a line is far too little, a paragraph would be the reasonable minimum, and more is better.

That kind of info should be in the tag description. Noone will read it, but that's where I'd expect to find it

@NiallC. I was making a jest about naming that unknown item in ALT text, which for visually impaired negate the need for an answer post.

@NiallC. I would immediatley downvote a question like that. And thank you for removing unidentifiable tag. Did I suggest it? Or suggest a wiki for it? I don't have authroty to remove tags, only suggest edits toheir wikis.

Okay so I did.. identification can be important. I would also expect people to be self policing. But, alas, it is true, people don't know how to Image search properly.

@Criggie "place image description here" is a slap in the face to blind people. No indication of an image is better then saying "Oh here's an image to look at, sorry blind guy, you aren't included.

@criggie a simple description is ideal. "Gear puller", if the question was more specific like, what is the function of this device?, You might say "A gear puller often used to remove steering wheels and fan belt pulleys" Notice the new title?

With that new title that actually describes the item in simple terms, the ALT text can be "nullified" by changing "insert image description here" to "" (two double quotes with no space between them), screen reader software will see that and ignore it.

The image is still viewable, but the special software will see the ALT="" and not try to vocalize it.

I am editing the image description now. can we be done with editing this post?
