@NiallC. - You around?
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yes. What's up?
I was looking at this answer:

Q: Is it possible (and safe) to adapt a 4-prong dryer outlet to a NEMA 6-20?

WA HuntI'm considering an appliance that is 240v 16A 3500watt with a NEMA 6-20P plug. Is it possible and safe to create an adapter for this so that it can be plugged into a standard 4-prong 14-30R dryer outlet? The adapter would be a typical 4-prong dryer cord with a NEMA 6-20R receptacle. Would this b...

I have a slightly different setup, but was wondering if it's the same. I'm trying to match a 220V welder to my gennie, which has an L14-30P connector output.
My welder currently has a 6-20 male connector on it. Would the setup be the same? I'm just not sure which pole to ignore if I was building my own adapter.
That adapter would be perfect ... if I could find one in short order.
Urk! I'm actually not as around as I thought. I'll take a look in a bit.

@Tester101 - You could probably answer this with your eyes closed ;-)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Looks like a slightly different configuration -- OP of that question says they have a non-locking 14-30, you have a locking 14-30 -- but the wiring should be the same.
@NiallC. - It's what I was thinking ... was just looking for a more experienced hand than mine to ensure I'm not doing something stupid.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Best we defer to Tester101 then. :)
@NiallC. - ROFL! Well, I appreciate your input, nonetheless.
I can buy a premade adapter for it, so I don't think I could get in too much trouble :o) I mean, it's only electricity, right?
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 And 240 is such a friendly number
More friendly than 440 :o)
or is that 480?
lol!
Yah, Tester's the man.

oh hey there @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2
@Shalvenay - What's going on?
not a whole lot, just saw your question here re: the welder and generator being not quite plug-compatible
Yah, one of those things. I need to do some welding away from home, so was looking at how I can connect them. I see there are ready made adapters to do it, I just don't know the availability of them.
what's the I1max and I1eff on your welder btw?
I have no clue
I don't even know what those terms mena.
mean.
