@Aarthi, your favorite SE'er is back around
(and no, that's not a self reference)
13:32
/me sobs
Forgot to set auto refresh over the weekend and did not check in on Sat
31->1 :/
14:15
I went from something close to 300 -> 1 over the holidays
14:46
@BMitch orly? 'cause it totally is you :P
\o/ :D
you can sweet talk us all you want, but we know who your favorite is :D
pfft i just miss the guy.
plus it's his damned turn to blog!
@Aarthi We are still waiting to read about your IKEA assembly.
14:55
oy vey, i have no idea when i'll have time for that :(
Nobody wants to read any more of my filler posts.
aww
>< okay, hound me about a little bit, but I'll try to have it in by the end of this week.
15:13
how was everyone's weekend?
relaxing?
knock out anything on the honey-do lists? :P
@Aarthi yes and no
better than just a no
went to Mount Vernon, aka George Washington's home, aka the petting zoo
contractors installed ducting, registers and the air exchanger for our attic hvac addition on friday
Playing, raking and too much basketball. Played three games yesterday, I hurt all over.
15:18
Mount Vernon has been on the honey-do list for a while, but it's not exactly DIY related
Had the Ghost hunters out to look for ghosts in my sewer line.
Did they find slimer?
They only found roots.
Spooooooky roots?
and a couple "feminine products"
added that to the honey-don't list
15:20
oh my.
roots and feminine products ruined one of my childhood Christmases
waiting for them to come back with the camera.
if they didn't replace the line where the roots invaded, then that plumber was right to clean out the line periodically, that was my condition on "if they did their job correctly, you shouldn't need it"
@TheEvilGreebo Was everything open for the ducting or did they have to make a lot of holes?
They made the holes
we talked about doing it ourselves but we might have saved $300... tops...
15:30
A new user! Hi @Gigili welcome to DIY chat! :D
Hey @all. Thank you @Aarthi =)
@Gigili No problem; it's what I do best :D How are you this Monday mornin?
Can't complain! Thank you for asking.
I wanted to ask if a question is on topic on DIY. I want to ask about how can I arrange my books in my room with lacking space issue
That is, your room is small and space is hard to come by, but you want to organize your books?
Exactly so.
15:36
What ideas have you had? I'd post a picture of the space in the chat here and we might be able to narrow you down to an answerable question.
instructables has a ton of unique shelving ideas.
@SteveJackson Nice, I'd follow your advice then. Will be back.
16:12
so that killed the conversation.
while i understand why design is off topic for us, we can ask questions about achieving design, right?
building the shelves, hanging the curtains, etc?
16:38
We can't all be here chatting all the time....
@TheEvilGreebo We could be if SE paid us to.
16:53
True. Get to work on that, @Aarthi :)
17:10
@Aarthi Sure. Design questions are just too broad, too localized, and too subjective to work at all. Like that one, a place to store books in a small space. Well the optimal solution is a box.
The optimal solution is actually a Kindle.
point. Everyone keeps telling me a kindle is awesome. I'm starting to be swayed. How does it work for technical books?
I don't know. I'm a luddite. I read news on my phone, but it's bound paper for everything else.
Also, dropping a tool on a technical book doesn't hurt as much as it does on the kindle.
But the question was about storage.
I'm kinda tired of spending $50 a pop on books, but I like to be able to make notes in the margin and mark a bunch of places for quick reference.
Apparently you can do that on a kindle.

2 hours later…
19:31
I need this sign
@BMitch Don't we all.
