g'morning
That's a bit of an uphill slope on the front end of that pipe there Steve
where it comes out of the door I mean
Does seem like a problem :)
So what's the story on the plumbing there?
AHHHH
I didn't want to offend you...
12:36
Don't worry - if I do something like that I would appreciate you tattooing something appropriate to my forehead.
@SteveJackson I like the coffee can support. classic!
@Tester101 I knew there was a reason I have a dozen of those in my garage.
The only thing they can't be used for is jack stands.
you can even build a wifi antenna!
13:34
My buddy lives line-of-sight from me. We've often joked about setting up a point-to-point link so we have internet if either of our providers goes out.
We should start a series of challenge questions on the site. give a list of random materials, and see what people can make with them.
@Tester101 blog. that's a blog thing.
@AarthiDevanathan I thought about that, but how would people submit there creations? through comments?
@Tester101 yes or email, and then we could aggregate answers in a "party post"
i'd help fund a prize
13:50
@AarthiDevanathan awesome! now all we need is a list of random junk.
@Tester101 fun things!
check out these houses!
Wonder if they're up to code?

Someone has been tenacious on this answer. It needs more upvotes.

A: How do I install a GFCI receptacle with two hot wires and common neutral?

Tester101The first problem is that you may be using the wrong cable and breakers. NEC calls for 2 20Amp small appliance circuits in the kitchen, to accomplish this you'll need to switch to 20Amp breakers and #12 wire. The next problem. You'll have to pull new wire anyway, if you want to hook up GFCI rec...

I remember Friday's being busier that this. Guess everyone's got stuff to do. I'm stuck in a build-merge-tweak cycle
16:08
its a nice day
i nearly took it off m'self
and where oh where is our slacker mod???
16:47
@TheEvilGreebo lol you mean @ChrisF ?
@AarthiDevanathanΨ I, uh, um, I, ... YES!
@TheEvilGreebo I'm not a mod, just to be clear; I own the room, that's all.
<-- is enjoying that clip far too much today.
16:49
lol ok i see
and afaik you're a mod - you have god like powers here - you're a mod
and since I'm naturally irreverent, I take it upon myself to challenge your godlike powers and mock your supposed divinity... you know, just cause
laughs demigod at best, though, I assure you.

Q: Help define the Bill Of Materials for a blog contest

Tester101I suggested this in chat "We should start a series of challenge questions on the site. give a list of random materials, and see what people can make with them.". And @Aarthi Devanathan Ψ suggested we do it on the blog , and also offered to help fund a prize. So all we need now is a list...

@AarthiDevanathan is two weeks enough time to come up with a prize?
@Tester101 a-yup. :D
17:21
@Tester101 okay those houses are awesome.
I liked the idea of a wall of tires. Wonder if it could work as a retaining wall?
@SteveJackson you'd have to fill or weight them, right?
@AarthiDevanathanΨ Definitely. It's more a question of rot - would it last longer than pressure treated lumber?
Tires? Hmm. Good question
@SteveJackson ooh tough call. iirc, rubber photodegrades.
17:29
wood rots though
even pt eventually
Yep, but wooden ones are pretty common. A well constructed brick or stone wall can last centuries - no contest there.
A wood one is pretty simple to build - a rubber one... less straight forward
and I suspect that dry/sun rot would hit the rubber sooner than wet rot on the PT
dang it I just don't want to focus on this data task...
4 votes... need 6 for "enlightened"...
I'm such a badge whore
18:23
@TheEvilGreebo so'm I -- three days til my 30 days badge!
/me hacks your computer and cuts off your network access for 24 hours
MUHAHAHAHAHA
18:37
@TheEvilGreebo Are you talking about me? I've been puttying in a window and having my tea. Still to windows to putty, but it's dark so we'll only be doing the bedding in tonight.
Hmm?
Oh the slacker mod crack? No I meant @AarthiDevanathan B-}
Ah - technically not a mod (no diamond) by an employee with a special symbol, so almost.
@ChrisF and ownership rights! ;)
Heeey new blog post!
are aiming for 2x a week?
I think we're still working that out...some seem to be more active than others.
18:54
ah ha.
We want to get people excited about the blog and keep the content fresh, but we also don't want to burn out in the first month.
@SteveJackson very true. i think 2x a week is good 'cause it means there's a steady stream of content, but it's also not so much as to be overwhelming or burning through material.
Good points. I'm hoping we settle down into something like that with regular posting days. It's a community project though, so we're still setting the ground rules.
@SteveJackson i'm sure it'll work out. and, in a pinch, i'm sure @ChrisF will contribute something ;)
19:24
@AarthiDevanathanΨ I did promise something, so keep nagging me. I'm going to be busy this weekend and next though.
@ChrisF picturessss of windooooows
@AarthiDevanathanΨ No - pictures of the bathroom we did last year. There are no pictures of windows.
@ChrisF there are not the windows i'm looking for?
@AarthiDevanathanΨ Definitely not ;)
@AarthiDevanathanΨ snort
19:28
@AarthiDevanathan claims pictures make anything interesting. I'll test that theory eventually.
@ChrisF hahahaha
@SteveJackson take YHL's blog. it's ALL pictures. and people LOVE it.
Is that interesting?
yes. i love the grayness of it.
Nope, it's not gray it's grey.
it would look great as an accent, faux chair-rail or something
hahaha
best, @TheEvilGreebo
and i still strongly believe pictures make errything better
I could post some pictures that don't make anything better... but I wont ;)
@TheEvilGreebo keep this clean, please ;) we like our chats PG-13 here, or so I've been told.
Yep - Stack Exchange has to be Safe For Work. There are clauses in the legal stuff
@ChrisF that part i didn't know. cool.
Geez, talk about not getting the joke! ;)
@TheEvilGreebo hahaha you know me, Dense as Cake up in here
Dense as cake?
I like Angel Food cake - its light and fluffy
@TheEvilGreebo mmmm cake
20:11
LIE!!!
@TheEvilGreebo Looks pretty tasty......
The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie!
20:34
and on that note, goodbye everyone! /waves
